Suggestions and observations from the South Asia Grants Regional Committee

South Asia Grants Regional Committee has the following observations and suggestions regarding the proposal that has been shared for review.

• Can the organising team provide more details about the timeline of the event, roles and responsibilities of the organising team (such as 5 users for photography)?
• Can we have examples of pages that need pictures; an example image that you are looking to add. Is it possible to create a category perhaps if these pages are already identified ?
• More details regarding the training sessions, iterations, content of the training/s should be provided in the proposal
• South Asia Grants Regional Committee also would like to suggest that the budget should be reconsidered or more details should be provided regarding:

Graphic design

Communication outreach

Certificates and Souvenirs

Swags (Covid 19 protective gear can be provided as Swag)

Travel and rent approximate cost

Thanks for the reply

We made some changes as per the committee suggestions:

• Community is looking forward to hosting four offline training events to facilitate users to help understand the Wiki Commons and Creative commons licenses & one award ceremony (A total of 5 events)

Helping participants/audience understand Wikimedia Commons and how to utilize photos on Wikipedia with the right license, the significance of Wikimedia sister projects and the necessity of empowering local language Wikipedias would be the main agenda items for training events.

The event's hosting and audience instruction will be coordinated by the organizers.

The Idea of Photo travel is to facilitate some of the users to capture images of geographical places like government infrastructures, and tourist attractions to upload on wiki commons under usable licenses and use in relevant Wikipedia pages. The photo travel allowance will be considered for those who are making a significant contribution to the WPWPTE campaign.

Seeking permission/Suggestions

Dear THasan (WMF),

We wish to let you know that the Telugu Wikipedia community is asking for a 25-day extension for Project Wikipedia pages that need photographs. These adjustments will only be taken into account for the local project and not for the global project. You can view the page that was established to compile the opinions of the Telugu Wikipedia community members.

By including 2112 new photographs in the Telugu Wikipedia articles, the initiative has reached its first milestone on 2022 August 31. Due to a delay in receiving the funds (we've received the grant amount on 2022 September 21), the competition rewards were not posted on our project page before the project began. We believe that announcing the incentives up front would have inspired more participants to contribute to the project.

Considering these scenarios, the community passed a resolution to organize a mileage edit-a-thon of the project Wikipedia Pages wanting photos -2022 for 25 days starting from 2022 Oct 6 till Oct 31.

Please let us know your thoughts and inputs on the same.

Submission of Project report for WPWPTE

Hello THasan (WMF),

The WPWPTE project was set for 2 months initially from July 1, 2022, to August 31, 2022, we've extended the duration with an extension period of 25 days (October 5 to 31, 2022) with your approval.

As the Project report submission is due by November 24, 2022. I am requesting an extension period of 30 days i.e till December 24, 2022.

The Telugu Wikipedia community has stood in 7th place comparing the number of edits by other Wikipedia communities in terms of adding photos to pages. The edits by the Telugu Wikipedia community account for 6.8% of total edits globally. This is all till August 31, 2022.

And I am yet to draw conclusions from the extended campaign summary.

I am also happy to share that, this project has helped me to reach two tribal languages Gondi and Kolami, which are the coexistent languages in parts of Telangana. It's my pleasure that I am able to mentor these two communities to grow.

Considering these viewpoints I would like you to consider the extension period for submitting the project report.
