Hi Elns, and thanks for your report on documenting villages in the northern region of Cameroon and developing article content on the French Wikipedia. Here are my comments and questions:

  • Congratulations on making an impressive number of articles across the editing events earlier this year. I realize your goal was to reach 500 articles on villages, but I think participants at your events developed a good number of articles to better represent different populaces and areas in the northern Cameroon region. And because some participants continuing to add articles beyond the event, I am sure the goal will be reached in good time.
  • Can you describe a little bit about what resources and information were used to write articles on villages? I agree this research and work can be quite difficult (I've done some of it myself as a volunteer on English Wikipedia), and sharing it in your report might help others who want to work on providing better coverage of places and villages on French Wikipedia or other projects.
  • Is there a list of participants (i.e. usernames) you can provide to show who participated in the different events?
  • Finally, are you able to provide an example of one or two articles that you feel represents the best work from these events?

  • Yes, at the end of the project, the number is not reach. But we are in a progressive spirit with the contributors. And I am sure that the number will be reach before the end of June.
  • We have a global page on the dynamic of writing articles on villages of cameroon at a whole where we put resources and information for those who want to contribute for articles on villages. This global Plateform of villages is available here. You can see the link to geographic location, list of villages, development plans, etc and simple directives of how to write an article on wikipedia as well as the progressive list of villages to follow the dynamic.
  • We have our internal and private list of contributors of each project. We can send it by email to WMF ( private exchange) but we cannot publish in a public space this list because many of our contributor do not want to be listed in a public online space.
  • You can find there one sample of article I feel represents a good effort from this activity. [1]. Tens of articles has the same level of efforts. As I told, the contributors are new contributors. All articles are available in the [Category of the villages of the Cameroon Far North]
