Grants talk:Project/Rapid/CristinaAssunção/Edit-a-thonArtefeminismoEspaçoDaConcas2017

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Hello, Cristina. Thank you for your application for a WMF Rapid Grant, and for your work organizing this series of edit-a-thons. We like that you are working to engage users over the course of several editing events, and it is great to see this Art+Feminism activity in Portugal. Congratulations on securing the support of the library and museum for these events. That is impressive! We have a few questions before we make our decision:

  1. We would like to have a better idea of the cost of food and drinks per participant. About how many participants do you expect to attend each event?
  2. 540 Euro is an usually high amount for miscellaneous expenses for an edit-a-thon series like this. We will need you to breakdown this line item by each type of expense requested (e.g. nametags, flyers, cheatsheets, etc.) before we can make a decision about that part of your budget.
  3. The number of repeat participants is the number of people who attend one event in your series for the first time, and then attend at least one other event in the series. Given the structure of your events, this number seems like it should be much higher than 5 :) I think this may have simply been a misunderstanding about the definition of "repeat participants". Could you clarify the number of people you expect to return for at least one additional event after attending their first event?
  4. Would you please provide the usernames of the other experienced Wikipedia editors who will be involved, and / or ask them to endorse the request? Since this request is near the cap of $2,000, it will be important to show that you have the support of other community members. By the way, we appreciate all of the announcements about this project you've linked to.

First of all, I'm deeply sorry for taking so much time to answer, especially when you were so promptly. Secondly I just had an answer from another fund I asked for and I won't be needing so much on food and childcare.

  1. Concerning food and drinks it was estimated $5 a day each participant. water, coffee or tea, snacks and fruit. 40 participants makes $200 each event. 4 events makes $800. Now 800-200 (from the other fund) = $600
  2. About miscellaneous expenses: $80 on ink and $20 on paper for cheatsheets and name tags. $40 was for flyers. $80 for outdoors and $120 for a publication concerning the work addressed during the editing-a-thons. And $200 I had from a different sponsor. So: 540-200 = $340
  3. The number of repeated participants is expected to be 20. I thought a different thing indeed.
  4. As for childcare I had $100 from another sponsor so that makes 540-100 = $440

I have spoken to some other members of the community and wait on their reply.

Hello Cristina, as asked per email, can you list other Wikimedians taking part in this event? (Question 4. above from Winifred). Obrigada! Delphine (WMF) (talk) 15:43, 8 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have spoken to some other members of the community and wait on their reply. Other community members are supporting online, since we couldn't find any, so far, in the city we are in. The ones expected before couldn't come. Online, Leon Saudanha is being of great help (he's my tutor) and confirmed help again for tomorrow. Darwinius was helping out last Saturday and we are expecting the same tomorrow. Alchimista has been helping a lot with editing concerns.
