Hello Shahadusadik, thanks for submitting this request and running this amazing project! I have a few questions after reviewing your proposal.

  • I noticed that this grant is requested on behalf of the planned Dagbani Wikimedians User Group. Could you please provide more information on the user group status? Have you already applied for User Group recognition?
  • In the probox, please add the details of the second user group representative who will be co-signing the grant agreement with you.
  • You are requesting 500 GHS (~86 USD) for the internet connection of each participant. This amount seems really high to me, given that this will only cover expenses for a month. Could you please explain why this amount is high? Is it because internet is costly in Ghana, or are there any other reasons?

Looking forward to your responses. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 12:31, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @DSaroyan (WMF):, Thanks for the questions,
  • Dagbani Wikimedians is in the process of registering as a not-for-profit organization to support the 16 different mole Dagbani languages spoken in Ghana, Benin and Burkina Faso.

We are yet to put in a formal application to become a WMF affiliated user group once we complete registering as a non-profit.

  • Din-nani1 is the second representative of Planning Dagbani Wikimedians User Group. Please are suggesting that we add his email address in the probox? We don’t have an organisation account yet so I will receive funds through my bank account.
  • Since the project involves uploading audio recordings to Wikimedia Commons, we are requesting 500 GHS (~86 USD) for the core participants to cover the cost of internet routers and also for data charges We understand that this project will require a more stable internet connection/data than a normal Wikipedia editing and so mobile data will not be a suitable option also, the one-month duration is the best guess estimation that we could come up with, but if possible, we’d like to create some buffer by extending the duration of the project by a few more weeks.
