Report accepted[edit]

Hello Samatics, thanks for running another successful project and submitting the final report for it. I have reviewed this report and have some comments and questions:

  • Congratulations on the successful event! We are pleased to hear that all targets have been reached and exceeded.
  • Thanks also for sharing the Outreach Dashboard linka and some photos from your events!
  • You mentioned that you used a RSVP form to avoid IP blocks. Could you please provide more details about this form and how it helped you to avoid IP blocks?
  • The initial plan was to invite participants of the Wikipedia 20 celebration at the Badagry Slave Museum and Black History Museum project and further engage them. Were all participants from this project? Did you have any newcomers?
  • This may be a bit outdated but what is your current plan to retain these participants further?

Thanks again for your work and dedication. We are happy to accept this final report; it means that this grant is now completed. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 13:24, 5 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Response[edit]

Hi DSaroyan (WMF),

Thank you for your review and comments. Please find below my response:

  • You mentioned that you used a RSVP form to avoid IP blocks. Could you please provide more details about this form and how it helped you to avoid IP blocks?
The RSVP form was a google form sent out to expected participants(both new and old) before the event, Account is created for new users by using the information filled on the form. Since on the dashboard facilitators without account creation right can create 6 accounts per day. We create the accounts for the new participants and add both old and new to the dashboard. On the RSVP form, details such as Whatsapp number is included, Thus it was easy to contact the expected new participants to check their mail and confirm their account before event day. This helped in reducing the time for creating new accounts that will probably be blocked due to all participants connected to the same internet network provider.
  • The initial plan was to invite participants of the Wikipedia 20 celebration at the Badagry Slave Museum and Black History Museum project and further engage them. Were all participants from this project? Did you have any newcomers?
Not all participants were from Wikipedia 20 celebration at the Badagry Slave Museum and Black History. We had newcomers. From the event, I observed that the participants were of two categories based on interest. Few wanted a Wikipedia in the local language(gungbe language) and others were curious to Know about Wikidata. This was the basis of my post event engagement.
  • This may be a bit outdated but what is your current plan to retain these participants further?
I trained a few on contributing to gunbge Wikipedia that I started on the incubator. And they are actively contributing to this. I follow up on a daily basis through the whatsapp group I created for this new group. For the second set, they remained on the existing Whatsapp group but I organise a biweekly training on zoom and also encourage then to participate in editathons that I know of that is ongoing.

Thank you once again.--Samatics (talk) 14:04, 5 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
