Hi James Moore200, thanks for submitting this interesting proposal. I reviewed it and have the following questions and requests:

  • In the project impact section, could you please add the approximate number of community participants? How many participants will attend your session?
  • Even though the Summit will be in line with Covid-19 Guidelines, we request that you fill out the Risk Assessment document.
  • What support will Wikimedia Nigeria User Group offer?
  • Is the proposed air travel for local travel? How long do you plan to travel and why is it impossible to use ground transportation?
  • Why do you request accommodation for 4 days if the plan is to run only 1 event?
  • Will the Model ECOWAS Summit provide any financial support to the confirmed delegates? How other delegates are planning to travel and participate in this Summit?
  • How many and what kind of souvenirs do you plan to share?
  • What will contingency costs cover?

Hello DSaroyan (WMF),

Thank you for reviewing my proposal. Requested responses are explained below:

At least 10 individuals will support in applying the photographs that will be taken during the Summit. The volunteers will help to use the photographs on relevant pages on Wikipedia. At least 30 participants will attend my session (from the conversation with the Chairman of the Summit) during the Summit and it is different from the photographs that will be taken.

I have filled the Risk Assessment document as requested.

The Wikimedia Nigeria User Group will help in sharing the session on the official social handles. Besides, call for participation from members from different languages will be made on the official WhatsApp group by WUNG.

Abuja is the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria. It is within North Central region of the country. Abuja is minimum of 10 hours from Ilorin by road but about 1 hour 15 minutes by Air. Besides, the roads are not very good and safe for travelling. Insecurity is on the increase too.

The Summit is a 4-day event and not one day, please accept my sincere apologies for not mentioning the number of days for the Summit. A for for one day and photographs taking will be all through the Summit.

Model ECOWAS Summit does not provide financial support since inception. I am confirmed as a delegate because I already made the payment for the Delegate Fee as required after being selected. This project is a request for travel support to carry out my proposed project during the summit and to fulfil my full participation as a confirmed delegate. Other delegates are travelling by themselves, some are sponsored by their organisations. A WhatsApp group has been created for communication with other delegates who will attending the Summit, I have communicated with different participants who are willing to partake in my proposed project.

Souvenirs will consist of branded nose masks, stickers, jotters and pen.

The contingency costs is for unforseen hike in the proposed budget.
