Grants talk:Project/Rapid/Swapnil Karambelkar/Hindi Wikimedians Technical Meet Nov 2017 at Jaipur

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Hi Swapnil.Karambelkar. This is an exciting initiative and we appreciate all your efforts to organize the training. We have a few clarifying questions before we can move forward with approval:

  1. How many people are you expecting at the training? From the budget it looks like 15. How many trainers vs. editors?
  2. How have you decided to invite to the training? Was there an application process?
  3. The impact section talk about new members, which I assume means people new to editing Wikipedia. My understanding is that all participants would be experienced editors who are hoping to receive training to increase their admin responsibilities.

Hi Alex Wang (WMF) thanks for showing keen interest in the proposal, I want to clarify the doubts regarding the same
  1. We are expecting 4 trainers and 11 trainees (trainees only from Hindi Wikipedia).
  2. We would be shortlisting the names (to be decided by organizers) and inviting the trainees via google form (process not yet started) whereby certain minimum criteria must be fulfilled by the trainee to attend the training.Application process has started on event page here
  3. "new members" here means those existing editors who are contributing for a while but haven't reached the level where they could be given admin responsibilities because of lack of technical knowledge. They would be briefed about do's and dont's and will be given technical knowledge so that they could improve and become Rollbackers, Reviewers, admins and so on, in the due course.Yes, you are right in assuming that "all participants would be experienced editors who are hoping to receive training to increase their admin responsibilities." (there is no plan to recruit fresh editor yet as per budget proposed, but if someone would like to attend the meet without budgetary support she/he would be welcomed).
Hi Swapnil.Karambelkar. Thanks for all the responses. We will move forward with approval! Cheers, Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 16:09, 26 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
