Application received[edit]

Hi, Mehman97 thank you for submitting this new rapid grant request. We have noted your request for an urgent review and will do our best but please keep in mind that we are still working through a backlog of proposals. We appreciate your patience.

In the meantime, I have a few questions:

  1. The total budget in the application's probox differs from the total in the budget table. Could you please correct whichever figure is incorrect?
  2. Will you use any other criteria to select the camp's participants? For example, are you looking for youth who have no Wikipedia editing experience, or would you accept youth who have some editing experience? Similarly, will you be taking gender into account during the selection process?
  3. Could you edit the proposal to indicate whether the camp is free to attend or whether attendees will have to pay some cost?

Please watch this page for more comments or questions, and let us know if you have any questions.

Warm regards, LSmith (WMF) (talk) 01:51, 12 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi LSmith, thanks for your feedback.

I will try to answer you briefly:

  1. The amount in the table and in probox is really different. The reason is that, I deducted from the sum of the table the amount we have from the previous grant and want to use it in this grant, I wrote down the remaining amount in probox, that we want to receive from the WMF. If this is a problem, I can fix the amount.
  2. We will write all the criteria for the selection of participants on the project page, but now I can say that: 1) the camp will be attended by persons who previously didn't know the wiki-technology and will be trained to work in wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects, as well as individuals who have minimal knowledge of working in wiki projects. 2) Wikimedia UG Georgia respects gender balance and therefore this criterion will be protected in the wikicamp, 50% of participants will be male and 50% female.
  3. Wikicamp will be completely free, Wikimedia UG Georgia will fully pay for everything, including transportation.

We fully understand that you receive a lot of requests for consideration and you do not have enough time about this, but I want to ask you to review our request as soon as possible, since we have very little time before the project starts.

Thanks in advance. Best, --Mehman 97 13:05, 12 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Approval[edit]

Hello Mehman97, thank you for responding to my colleague LSmith's questions. Sorry for the delay in response on our part. I have adjusted the probox to say $2000 USD since that's what you need for this project. I didn't change the amount in GEL because in oanda it seemed equivalent to $2000 USD. Please let me know if I missed something there. When we send you funds we will deduct the remaining funds you've indicated from your previous grant. I also appreciate you sharing the selection criteria. This sounds like a great project. I look forward to seeing the outcome from it. I am approving your grant request.
