Report accepted[edit]

Hello, Kaizenify; thank you for submitting this report and for all the work you put into this project. I have the following requests and comments:

  1. Can you please include some of the photos that resulted from the photowalk on your report, as well as link to their category on Commons?
  2. You mention that one of the problems was that some photographers were too tired the day after the walk to attend the upload session. In other countries, volunteers organize shorter photowalks (two-three hour events) in a shorter list of locations and do upload sessions at the end, where interest is still fresh and people can sit and have a light meal while they upload. This approach is less ambitious in that it covers less locations, but it would help you cut your need to plan and pay for transportation and solve the problem you mentioned.
  3. I am sorry that weather didn't cooperate with your photowalk or upload session; you worked very hard in the planning and it feels bad when things don't go as planned. Still hoping you feel good about the work you put in.

Finally, an important comment: it goes against funding policy to use the budget for expenses that are not previously approved. Even though you were able to find a less costly venue (maybe this is the venue you should use for future activities), you cannot reallocate those funds to new budget items without approval from WMF. In cases like these, grantees need to return the money spent on unapproved expenses.

We will make the only exception this time, but we will request that funds are sent back if it happens again. The right way to proceed when budgets need to change is by leaving a comment in the talk page and emailing the Rapid Grants team, where someone can approve the change. These processes are much faster than the grant application process, though they aren't always approved because expenses still need to be consistent with the funding guidelines.

Thank you for the work you do for the Wiki movement, MMontes (WMF) (talk) 13:15, 22 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you MMontes (WMF) for the supports and the work you do.
  1. I have added the link to the commons category and also few photos on the report page as requested.
  2. I have learnt that within this photowalk and that’s one of the core lessons to take out. Lagos state is quite big and difficult to complete within just few hours hence the all day activities, so what we could have done is space the photowalk in days rather than just one day. Thanks for noting that.
  3. Yes the weather was quite harsh for the project and spoiled some of our plans but with determination from the participants and organizer; we were still able to get something from it which is unprecedented.
  4. Thank for giving exception as regard the purchase of shirts and going for a low costly hall; I have learnt my lessons from it and won’t happen again. This been my first grant; thank you very much once again.
