Request to amend rapid grant end date[edit]

Hi Alex Wang (WMF). We kindly request to change the end date of our grant to June 15, 2020. Kindly let me know if there's anything you need from me or EditingDentist in order to accommodate this request. Mcbrarian (talk) 14:56, 4 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Good day, I would like to add that the reason for this request is that the organizers were approved funding to run a series of 5 edit-a-thons. Currently, the first four are already done/planned for January, February, March, and April. Funds are already approved to host a fifth event in May, and the indicated "end date" of the Rapid Grant is May 12. However, the organizers would like to use the opportunity to hold the event during the #1Lib1Ref campaign which runs May 15-June 5 and these dates take place after the end date included in the approved grant proposal. It is simply moving the last event a few weeks later to take opportunity of the visibility offered by the international campaign #1Lib1Ref. Thank you very much, JP Béland (WMCA) (talk) 16:22, 4 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@JP Béland (WMCA): Thanks for your request-- this extension is approved! Your new due date for your Rapid Grant report will be 5 July 2020. I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 22:10, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Update[edit]

Good day, this message is to inform the Rapid Grant Team about this project of the WikiClub Hamilton. Due to obvious reasons related to COVID-19, the project couldn't happen as planned. The WikiClub executed the beginning of the project before the beginning of the restrictions due to the pandemic, and the results of those will be published soon. I'm currently talking with the organizers of the project and the WikiClub Hamilton about the future of this rapid grant. We will either request an extension or a cancellation. Unfortunatly, some of the organizers moved away and it may be difficult to carry out the project as planned now, but we are looking at our options. We will update the Rapid Grant Team here in a few weeks. Thank you for your understanding, JP Béland (WMCA) (talk) 20:14, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi JP Béland (WMCA) (talk), EditingDentist is no longer in the country and I am the sole planner for this funded activity. The uncertainty of a re-opening timeline in Canada for 2021, coupled with the knowledge that I will be away from McMaster for all of 2022 (on research leave), I have made the difficult decision to suggest we cancel this grant. I'm not sure what steps are required to move this forward, but I think this is the best solution for now. My research leave will be focused on learning more about Wikipedia's health content and how it is used by the general public, so I'm sure we will connect again soon! Hello, Mcbrarian: Thank you for this update regarding your project, and for communicating your decision to cancel the grant. Please look out for an email shortly from me and the Rapid Grants team to close out this project. I look forward to hearing from you! Best, Morgan Jue (WMF) (talk) 19:10, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
