Grants talk:Project/Rapid/Wikimedia diversity edit-a-thon/Report

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Hello Margott Thank you for submitting your grant report. It was great to see the photos you had shared and to learn about the success of the edit-a-thon. It's unfortunate that the internet was a problem in your venue.

  • Do you plan to look into other venue options in the future or how you can improve the internet access in your current venue?

I am accepting your final report. Best regards, WJifar (WMF) (talk) 09:30, 19 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello WJifar (WMF) Thank you for accepting our report. About the internet, we can either buy usb with internet from phone companies, which is rather extensive, or make sure to host in a venue with good internet connection. This venue we mostly use, normally have good internet connection, that's why we didn't checked for other alternatives.

Question about participation/follow-up[edit]

Hi Margott! I'm curious to know if there was general feedback about the edit-a-thon from the participants after the event. In the proposal page you mentioned planning to host a series of similar events like this, but did the participants request any initial support from you or the other organizers? Have you kept in touch with them regularly, or plan to do so? It's exciting to see this happening, and so I hope WoALUG will try to incorporate this in their Simple APG plan in the coming year. Cheers, Morgan Jue (WMF) (talk) 23:07, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Morgan,

Yes, we invited the participants that showed interests in the Wikigap event held on 8 March. And also in 19 May we will host another workshop called Wikipride and Diversity during Open Source Conference Albania. In the same conference we will have also a Wikimedia community discussion, so hopefully we will recruit some other Wikipedians that are willing to host events instead of being just participants.
