Need completed application before making a decision[edit]

Dear Mvasconcellosx,

Rodrigo Padula has indicated that your attendance is important to the success of this event, and we're glad you're interested in participating! We'd like you to complete our application and then we'll review it and reply with a funding decision. We're inclined to support your participation based on Rodrigo's strong endorsement, but we'd like to have a completed application before we finalize an award.

Cheers,

Endorsing the usefulness, with questions[edit]

I have been asked by João to consider endorsing this request. I have reviewed it, and I do think his participation in this event would be useful in the context of collaboration across the Portuguese Wikipedia, given his demonstrated commitment to reinvigorating off-wiki work in Portugal. I therefore endorse his request, though not without reservation:

I am surprised at both the rate and the duration of the accommodation budget item. Is it really the case that reasonable accommodation cannot be gotten in Rio for less than $120 a night? And why are six nights required to attend a 2-day event? Asaf (WMF) (talk) 13:43, 19 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Asaf, thanks for your support. We are planning some meetings for the next monday of the event(October 17). Our idea is to go with João in some local portuguese organizations and projects to improve our relation with that institutions and to design/think in projects and initiatives for 2017. That's why I requested to João to try accomodation for some extra nights and save money with a potential return to Brazil Rodrigo Padula (talk) 19:53, 20 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
okay. I suggest you/João make that explicit and specific (what orgs? what goals?) in the request itself. (To be clear, I do not have a decision-making role on grants any more.). Cheers! Asaf (WMF) (talk) 22:49, 20 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Request approved[edit]

@Mvasconcellosx: We are glad to inform you that we are approving your request for participating in the "Congresso Cientifico Brasileiro da Wikipedia" and the events associated with the congress on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. This said, we are referencing Rodrigo Padula's email endorsement as part of our decision. We are assuming that you need to stay for 4 nights in Rio de Janeiro. May we therefore ask you to adapt your budget to 4 nights accommodation. Thanks.
Furthermore we want to inform you that you are required to publish a post-event report. Your post-event report must provide a link to an outcome from your participation. We recommend that you start planning your outcome now so you are prepared to submit it as part of your report, which is due 14 days after the event. Note that an outcome does not include the materials you prepare to present at the event (though we’d like you to link to those, too), but something that is created during or after the event because of your participation, such as a link to something new that was co-created by you and your fellow participants at the event, a blog post you wrote to share your experience with others after the event, or a learning pattern to teach others something you've learned at the event. If you choose to make a learning pattern, think creatively about what you learned.
Our Grants Administrator will be in touch with you about your grant. Thank you for work and we send our best wishes,

Procedures[edit]

How should I proceed? Thank you. João Mvasconcellosx (talk) 08:56, 8 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Dear João, Thank you for the ping. Per Muriel's request, I've updated the budget for hotel to include 4 nights on Mvasconcellosx's behalf. I've also emailed you (from grantsadmin(_AT_)wikimedia.org) so, that we may move forward with drafting the agreement. -- Best wishes, JTud (WMF), Grants Administrator (talk) 23:49, 7 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Janice, maybe ther is something wrong with the e-mail box. Could you send it to me on mvasconcellosx@gmail.com, please? Thank you. João Mvasconcellosx (talk) 09:01, 8 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Dear João, I've sent it to the above email address. My apologies for the delay in response. It was a US bank holiday yesterday, and our office was closed. -- Best, JTud (WMF), Grants Administrator (talk) 15:45, 11 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
