Add topicQuestions about your proposal
[edit]Dear yohannvt,
Thank you for submitting this proposal. We are happy to hear that you are interested in helping to raise awareness about the gender gap among women engineers and scientists.
I have some questions about your proposal:
- Before we can approve an requests, the Travel and Participation Support program requires that we have evidence from the conference organizers that your talk, on in this case your workshop, has been accepted as part of the official program. Can you please provide us with this evidence? This could be an email acceptance letter or a link to a conference page that shows that your event is formally part of the program, or something else. You can forward any emails to participation wikimedia · org.
- Can you also tell us more about what you plan to do during your workshop? Can you also share your goals for the workshop?
We will continue our review of your proposal once we have your answers to these questions.
Warm regards,

- Hi Marti (WMF)
- Sorry for the delay in replying to your questions.
- Till now, most of my discussions with the organizers of the event were happening via email & I have finally received an official invitation letter for the event. I have sent it to the above mentioned email.
- So to summarize about this conference, INWES(International network of Women engineers & scientists) organizes an international conference every year called ICWES (International conference of Women Engineers & Scientists). ICWES 2017 is happening in New Delhi from 5th-7th October 2017. We feel that this will be the best place to conduct an edit-a-thon. This meets many of our goals related to trying to bridge the gender gap in India. So we have proposed to the organizers to conduct 2 parallel sessions of Wikipedia with on-hands session on editing in hindi & English. We will teach the attendees the basics of Wikipedia editing in English & Hindi.
- Wikimedia India is in discussion with INWES-India for a collaboration. One of the major impacts of this will be that this session can be a kick starter to many more session across india & this can be a stepping stone for the creation of a WikiWomen community in India.
- Thanks

Request not funded - eligibility concerns
[edit]Dear Yohannvt,
I am sorry that overlooked this in my earlier post, but it has come to my attention that WMIN is not up to date with its reporting requirements as an affiliate. Unfortunately, this means that WMIN does not meet the eligibility requirements for funding disbursements from the Wikimedia Foundation. If you have additional information about this that you would like us to consider, please let us know.
Warm regards,
--Marti (WMF) (talk) 16:48, 7 September 2017 (UTC)
- Dear Marti (WMF)
- WMIN is up to date with all its reports & we are in touch with Jaime (WMF) regarding this. Only thing in the reports pending from us is the bills/receipts which we are still gathering since the grant is almost 2 years old. In case, if that is an obstacle for applying for the grant, I would want to apply as an individual editor & not as a board member of WMIN, since this is a very big opportunity which we see & if we miss this, it will be a huge potential which we will be missing out on.
- Regards, Yohannvt (talk) 05:32, 8 September 2017 (UTC)
- Dear Yohannvt,
- Jaime (WMF) has confirmed that WMIN is not up-to-date, and is still not eligible as a group until receipts have been submitted for grant reports, and newly overdue annual reporting for 2016-2017 has been completed. Since you are president of the chapter and planning to represent WMIN at this event, we cannot fund you as an individual without reference to WMIN's eligibility status.
- I'm sorry that we cannot offer funding support for this opportunity until eligibility issues are resolves.
- Kind regards, --Marti (WMF) (talk) 16:39, 15 September 2017 (UTC)
