Stall decoration[edit]

~$500 seems like a lot of money for "stall decoration". Could you describe that a little? Is any of this decoration going to be re-usable in future events in West Bengal, for example? Ijon 20:38, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

~Thank you for your quires. Actually this item is still uncertainty because it is depending upon our stall position where we will get. We shall try to get corner stall for more visibility.The stall will make with 3mm thick ply-board, with 3/2 side full flex banner about Wikipedia including lighting. The organizer GUILD will not provide any infrastructure for Stall decoration. We have to pay 12-13 days Electricity charge to CESE. We cant reuse this ply-board in in future events,but we can use all banner. We can not make any ordinary stall like others do. It is Wikipedia, We are trying to do for good impression. It is the first public event in Eastern India within Bookfair which is one of the most prestigious and active cultural event in India. Apart from the ones mentioned by Jayanta da, there would expenses in at least three distinct heads, that we can foresee as of now - illumination, fire protection and security. For illumination we need to hire electric equipment like CFL etc and get the wiring done. We need to get a fire protection certificate and extinguisher from the Fire Brigade. 700 T Shirts ?[edit]

First up, Kudos for planning a massive outreach. Its also nice to see a strong community offline. I have only one concern on the grant, i.e non financial part - T Shirts.Though cited as non-financial, T Shirts come for a cost and 700 T Shirts would amount to ~ 40% of total grant requested. Am not sure if we are going to give everyone who is visiting the stall a T-Shirt and if its worth it.Wiki X gave merchandise, but it was for a celebration and numbers per city was small. I could even agree that if we give out T-Shirts to those who attend a 1/2 day academy since they would 'probably' continue editing. But my fear is Wikipedia stall should become "get some free t shirts and swags" stall for passers by. On a related note, I think all of the volunteers need to be sporting Wikipedia T-Shirt compulsorily, so please ask for 3 * No of Wikipedian volunteers / enough t-shirts so that all you guys sport a uniform and identifiable T Shirt. Well - if you are going to organise a one contest per day - you need just 12 T-shirts :-) Anyway - my experience with booth-promotion is that it needs rather more small, cheap gadgets (buttons, pencils, stickers etc.) that the small number of more expensise stuff.. Sorry to All. It was my mistake.Thank you Srikanth for pointing out regarding T-shirts. Actually our planning is that we give a T-shirts to all volunteer not for all visitor and Apart from that T shirts could also be sold as merchandise. Outreach[edit]

If the idea is to make some real outreach - I mean workshops - you probably need also equipment to organise this. I mean for example not one - but several - low end netbooks + a screen on which you can show the edit process + wi-fi hot spot to connect them to network. I am not quite sure if you really need a dvd player - it can be easilly replaced by pen-drive with movie attached to the TV... Most modern TV-sets have USB ports to which pen-drives can be attached directly. Anyway - in general I would reconsider for what and how much money you really need - the more precise plan of the booth and what you will be doing there for 12 days - could make your budget more realistic. Thanks for the submission and kudos for the all activities you have. In the budget you mention a sum of $38.94 for the English and the Bengali Wikipedia. Is this related to the workshops you plan to conduct for editing the English and Bengali Wikipedia? What is included at all in this cost? I noted that this sum is for a banner as well. The description of this item is updated. $38.94 is not for workshop. It is for leaflet( Cheatsheet of Bengali & English wikipedia). We have not enough space for conduct a workshop, but if any visitor willing to learn/howto, we can teach them accordingly as requirement.Jayantanth 17:07, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification of status[edit]
