The Hadaka Open Learning Network is a community-focused initiative based in Northern Nigeria dedicated to promoting collaborative open learning (Hadaka means collaborate in Hausa). We aim to empower communities through physical and online education, while increasing access to free knowledge in the Hausa language and beyond.

History

[edit]

The Hadaka Open Learning Network was founded in 2025 in response to the growing need for accessible learning opportunities in Northern Nigeria. With limited representation of Hausa knowledge online and a lack of digital inclusion programs in rural communities, the initiative was established to bridge these gaps through Wikimedia projects, open educational resources, and collaborative learning models.

[edit]

The organization was co-founded by a group of dedicated Wikimedians who came together with a shared vision of promoting open knowledge, inclusivity, and community development. Below is the list of the co-founders with their names, Wikimedia usernames, and roles in the organization.
