Explain your plan

[edit]
  • I am an experienced project manager trained and certified by IBM and Homentum, with a strong record of leading community outreach initiatives and supporting Wikimedia programs. I have contributed significantly to the activities of Wikimedia User Group Nigeria, where I served as a Planning Committee Member for Wiki Loves Earth Nigeria 2025. In this role, I coordinated campaign activities alongside team members, provided technical support to participants, collaborated with staff members, and assisted in tracking project activities and timelines to ensure smooth execution.

I also played an important role in the Nigerian Wikimedia Community Distinguished Awards Ceremony 2025 (NWCDA ’25), where I supported the coordination of nominations, engaged board members and nominees, and contributed to the successful planning and execution of the physical awards ceremony. I participated in the 2025 visibility of health articles in Nigeria 1.0 organized by user Teslemah and I seek to contribute more to health related projects in Nigeria but face a great limitation. I served as part of the Support Team for the Africa Wiki Health Fellowship 2025, where I assisted fellows in understanding Wikipedia policies, editing tools, and training modules through the WikiLearn platform. I also monitored participants’ progress and provided both technical and learning support throughout the fellowship. In addition, I actively contributed to the Anchor Project focused on advancing and preserving the cultural heritage of Ilorin. My dedication and contribution earned me second place in the project’s Edit-a-thon competition, reflecting my commitment to preserving culture and promoting open knowledge. Currently, I serve as the Project Lead for Voices of Change, where I coordinate teams and editors working to increase women-related content on English Wikipedia, Wikidata, and translated articles across Wikimedia platforms. Despite limited resources, I successfully facilitated physical training sessions using a borrowed laptop to prepare lecture slides, project training materials for participants, and conduct hands-on training activities. I am also part of the 2026 Programmes Volunteer Team for Wikimedia User Group Nigeria and have been assigned to support the planning and implementation of Wiki Loves Earth 2026. Access to a personal laptop would greatly improve my efficiency in designing program materials, creating tracking sheets, producing flyers, coordinating activities, and carrying out project management responsibilities effectively. Beyond this, I volunteer with Africa Wiki Women, where I support the smooth implementation of programs and initiatives aimed at increasing the participation and visibility of African women within the Wikimedia movement. As an executive member of the Wikimedia Fan Club, University of Ilorin, I contribute to leadership, decision-making, and the implementation of programs that advance the goals and objectives of the fan club. Receiving a laptop from the Wikimedia Foundation would greatly strengthen and expand my contributions to the Wikimedia movement. It would significantly enhance my ability to participate in online and offline Wikimedia activities, support community programs, organize trainings, create project materials, and contribute more effectively to healthcare, women-related, and educational content across Wikimedia platforms. The laptop would not only improve my productivity and consistency as a volunteer but would also serve as an important tool in sustaining my long-term commitment to promoting free knowledge, empowering communities, and supporting Wikimedia initiatives in Nigeria and across Africa. Although I will not be attending Wikimania 2026 in Paris in person, a trusted member of the Wikimedia community in Nigeria who will be attending the event can receive the laptop on my behalf. All necessary authorization and arrangements will be properly handled to ensure the laptop is safely delivered to me in Nigeria. The support will have a lasting impact on my Wikimedia activities and my continued efforts toward advancing healthcare, women-focused content, and community engagement within the Wikimedia ecosystem.
