Explain your plan
[edit]Tell us about how you contribute currently, and how you would contribute if WMF were to gift a used laptop to you. I currently contribute actively to Wikimedia projects, especially in promoting Hausa content and supporting community-driven initiatives. I participate in organizing and attending trainings, workshops, and campaigns that aim to expand access to free knowledge. My work also includes editing, improving articles, and connecting Hausa Wikipedia pages to Wikidata, as well as collaborating with other contributors to ensure quality contributions.
In the past, I received a computer support from Wikimedia Deutschland (Germany), which I used extensively for my Wikimedia activities. It greatly enhanced my productivity and consistency. Unfortunately, the laptop was later damaged by water and stopped working, which has made it difficult for me to contribute as effectively as before.
If I am fortunate to receive a used laptop from WMF, it will significantly improve my capacity to contribute. I will be able to resume consistent editing, support ongoing projects, organize and participate in community activities, and mentor new contributors. This support will not only help me grow my own contributions but also strengthen the impact I have within the Wikimedia community.
Affected projects
[edit]Add the existing Wikimedia projects (Wikipedia, Commons, etc.) and language versions that you seek to impact with this equipment.
- The primary projects I aim to impact with this equipment include: Hausa Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wiki Commons, Wiktionary and etc
• Hausa Wikipedia through creating new articles, improving existing ones, and ensuring better quality content.
• Wikidata – by connecting Hausa Wikipedia articles to structured data and improving data accuracy and completeness.
• Wikimedia Commons by uploading and properly categorizing media files that support Hausa-related content.
• Wiktionary (Hausa) contributing to the development of Hausa lexical content and improving entries.
In terms of language focus, my main contributions are in Hausa language projects, while I also support and collaborate on English Wikimedia projects where necessary, especially for translation, content expansion, and cross-linking knowledge.
With access to a functional laptop, I will be able to contribute more consistently and effectively across these platforms, increasing both the quality and quantity of contributions.
Work you're proud of
[edit]Show us (through links) some of your best Wikimedia work, on or off wiki, to help us get a sense for the kind of work you do. (no more than 3 or 4 links at most, please.)
