Help talk:Interwiki linking/Archive/2004

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Prologue

I notice that this page links to en:Wikipedia:Interlanguage links, when it should probably actually contain most of what's covered by that page. But perhaps that can wait for Special:Import, to get the edit history.

What I actually came here to mention, though, was that there doesn't seem to be anywhere an explanation of where MediaWiki's InterMap is defined, and what it currently contains on any given project. I know for a fact that it has one - I just used the MeatBall: prefix there, and it even incorporates things like Google:a load of words (which will get escaped badly by MediaWiki) - but I've no idea how you'd know this except by experience and/or guesswork. And somebody just asked on the en:Wikipedia:Village pump whether a prefix could be added for WikiTravel: - so, could it, how and where? - IMSoP 18:52, 4 May 2004 (UTC)

Why are the links to Klingon Wikipedia not treated as interwiki links (i.e. they appear in the message body rather than in the "other languages" box? e.g. tlh:tlhIngan Hol Ausir 20:06, 18 Jul 2004 (UTC)

interwiki and pics

What is the agreement (if any) on pictures and linking? Shall we download and upload pictures, or link to the other wiki's one, and how? Or shall we utilise commons (if possible)? And link how? --grin 15:47, 21 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Help:Images_and_other_uploaded_files#Embedding_external_images has something on this, linking to pictures on Commons do not work yet, I think.--Patrick 19:57, 21 Oct 2004 (UTC)

zh-min-nan Interwiki link changed from Latin script to Han script!!!

Why was it unilaterally changed without consultation with the community?? – Kaihsu 17:00, 23 Dec 2004 (UTC)
