IDAHOBIT - The power of communities
[edit]International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia is a day marked globally to commemorate the negative narratives, policies and laws LGBTQI+ people face around the world. The theme for 2025 is "The Power of Communities" This year Wikimedia LGBT+ is organising a panel discussion with speakers from Kenya, Argentina and Nigeria, to explore the power of communities in settings where it is illegal to be Queer.

Speakers
[edit]Kayode Timileyin is a Nigerian storyteller, community manager, producer, archivist, public relations professional, curator, festival manager, and advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights. He is best known for his efforts in amplifying Nigerian queer narratives, promoting inclusivity, and fostering community engagement through various media forms, including podcasts, documentaries, and live events.
Moyi Schwartzer- Activist, sociologist, teacher, soccer player and apprentice beekeeper. She was part of different LGBTIQ+ organizations in Buenos Aires (Colectiva Lohana Berkins, Columna Orgullo en Lucha, currently participates in Columna Mostri) and for 13 years is part of the group Serigrafistas Queer (cuis) with whom they have made different preparatory actions for the Pride March in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.
Ivy Werimba is a communications and advocacy specialist passionate about using storytelling, strategic communications, and digital innovation to drive social change. With experience leading rebranding campaigns, designing data-driven advocacy tools, and securing significant funding for community initiatives, she thrives at the intersection of narrative, policy, and community resilience.

Post event report
[edit]The 2025 IDAHOBIT event was held on zoom with almost 15 people in attendance and the theme was "The Power of Communities". The event was hosted by WMLGBT ED; Bisi Alimi. WMLGBT programs manager Vic Sfriso gave updates on this year Wiki Love Pride and a call for affilates, UG and Chapters to get involved.
