[edit]
  • Yes, I am currently involved in a leadership and facilitation role within the Wikimedia movement through the Odia Wikimedia HIV/AIDS Knowledge Improvement Project. In this initiative, I guide contributors in creating and improving Wikipedia articles on HIV/AIDS, uploading structured data to Wikidata, and adding relevant photos, videos, and audio recordings to Wikimedia Commons. My role includes mentoring new contributors on content creation, proper citation practices, and media documentation, aiming to enhance the availability of accurate HIV/AIDS information in Odia. Through this work, I help foster community engagement, knowledge sharing, and capacity building among contributors, while promoting health awareness in the local context.

  • Track 2: Micro Project Design Challenge – From Learning to Action

Which track are you most interested in and why?

[edit]
  • I chose Track 2 – Micro Project Design Challenge: From Learning to Action because I am keen to strengthen my skills in designing practical projects and translating ideas into actionable solutions. This track aligns with my experience in community-based initiatives and Wikimedia projects, where I focus on creating content, mentoring contributors, and implementing local-level interventions. I believe participating in this track will enhance my ability to plan, execute, and scale projects effectively while fostering innovation and collaborative problem-solving

Tell us about one Wikimedia program, campaign, or initiative you’ve contributed to in a leadership role

[edit]

I contributed in a leadership role by organizing an Odia Wikimedia Edit-a-thon and serving as a jury member. I coordinated the event, oversaw the submissions, and evaluated the contributions of participating Wikipedians.

What skills or knowledge do you hope to gain from this training?

[edit]
  • I hope to gain advanced skills in training design, facilitation, and effective knowledge transfer through this IIITH-OKI/Advance Train The Trainer 2025 program. I aim to enhance my ability to mentor contributors, lead workshops, and design impactful learning sessions, while also learning how to collaborate effectively with other communities and improve capacity-building initiatives within the Wikimedia movement.

Based on your selected track, what is one challenge you have encountered in either evaluating Wikimedia programs or designing impactful projects? Please share your experience relevant to your chosen track.

[edit]
  • One challenge I have encountered in designing impactful projects is translating ideas into practical, actionable plans while ensuring community engagement and participation. For example, during my Wikimedia initiatives, coordinating contributions from multiple participants and aligning their efforts with project goals required careful planning, clear communication, and resource management. This experience taught me the importance of structured project design, collaborative problem-solving, and adaptive strategies to make projects both feasible and effective.

How do you plan to apply what you learn after the event?

[edit]
  • I plan to apply what I learn from this training by designing and implementing more effective Wikimedia projects that engage contributors and promote knowledge sharing. I will use the skills in project planning, facilitation, and collaborative problem-solving to improve the quality and impact of initiatives I lead, while also mentoring others and fostering collaboration across Wikimedia communities to expand reach and engagement.

(Optional) Are you open to mentorship (either receiving or offering it)?

[edit]
  • Yes, I am open to both receiving and offering mentorship. I welcome guidance from experienced trainers to enhance my skills, and I am also eager to mentor new contributors, share my experience, and support their growth within Wikimedia projects and community initiatives.
