Have you participated in any Train the Trainer or similar Wikimedia training before? If yes, please mention the name of the event along with the year in which you participated
[edit]- No
Are you currently involved in any leadership, facilitation, or mentoring roles within the Wikimedia movement? If yes, briefly describe the imitative and your involvement in it
[edit]- Yes. I am currently involved in the GLAM IIT Delhi collaboration, which I co-initiated along with my colleague Raydann. We jointly pitched the idea to the Central Library at IIT Delhi and successfully set up this partnership, making it one of the first GLAM collaborations with a higher education institute in India. In this role, I have been actively facilitating the project, coordinating with institutional contacts, and shaping its direction. This initiative highlights the potential of Wikimedia collaborations in academic contexts and has allowed me to take on a leadership role in advancing its impact.
Track Preference
[edit]Your preferred track during the workshop
[edit]- Track 1: Evaluation, Impact, and Data Storytelling
- Track 2: Project Design Challenge – From Learning to Action
- Track 1
Which track are you most interested in and why?
[edit]- As a Wikimedian-in-Residence, I am most interested in Track 1. My work at IIT Delhi involves building and sustaining the GLAM collaboration, where it is essential to evaluate outcomes and communicate the impact effectively. Strengthening my skills in this area will help me better demonstrate the value of Wikimedia partnerships within academic spaces and make the case for similar collaborations with other institutions. Learning structured approaches to evaluation and data storytelling will directly support my current role and future Wikimedia initiatives I hope to lead.
Tell us about one Wikimedia program, campaign, or initiative you’ve contributed to in a leadership role
[edit]- I have contributed to the GLAM IIT Delhi collaboration in a leadership role as a Wikimedian-in-Residence. This initiative is one of its kind, being among the first GLAM partnerships with a higher education institute in India, with IIT Delhi, an institute of national importance. I helped initiate and shape this collaboration, setting a precedent for future Wikimedia partnerships in academic spaces.
What skills or knowledge do you hope to gain from this training?
[edit]- I hope to gain skills in evaluation, impact measurement, and data storytelling. These will help me demonstrate the outcomes of Wikimedia collaborations more effectively in my current role and strengthen my ability to build future partnerships, including with international organizations.
Based on your selected track, what is one challenge you have encountered in either evaluating Wikimedia programs or designing impactful projects? Please share your experience relevant to your chosen track.
[edit]- One challenge I have observed is the gender gap and lack of female participation in Wikimedia activities. While leading the IIT Delhi GLAM collaboration, I noticed that most contributors and participants were male, and it was difficult to encourage women to engage actively. This experience highlighted for me the need to design more inclusive approaches and use impact evaluation to better understand barriers faced by women, so future projects can create safer and more welcoming spaces for female participation.
How do you plan to apply what you learn after the event?
[edit]- I plan to apply what I learn by using the skills in evaluation and impact storytelling to pitch a GLAM collaboration with IIT Madras, where I am currently studying. Building on my experience at IIT Delhi, I aim to engage my institution as a new partner and demonstrate how Wikimedia collaborations can add value to academic and cultural initiatives.
