Track Preference

[edit]

Your preferred track during the workshop

[edit]
  • Track 2: Micro-Project Design Challenge – From Learning to Action

Which track are you most interested in and why?

[edit]
  • I am most suited for Track 2: Micro-Project Design Challenge – From Learning to Action because I have hands-on experience designing and implementing focused Wikimedia projects. I currently leading an interwiki collaboration project for Gujarat's heritage. I have successfully organized multiple targeted editathons addressing specific knowledge gaps - from Gujarati culture to Mahatma Gandhi-related content to literature. These experiences demonstrate my ability to identify community needs, design strategic interventions, and execute projects from conception to completion. Track 2 aligns perfectly with my proven skills.

Tell us about one Wikimedia program, campaign, or initiative you’ve contributed to in a leadership role

[edit]
  • I have been an organiser for Editathon for Gujarati Culture for Gujarati Wikipedia. I arranged an editathon, took an approval of the community, decided topics and guidelines, organised it successfully by taking grants and submitting reports. Due to this event, many articles on local fairs, clothes, food came up on any Wikimedia projects. Some of them were translated to English and other languages later. This experience taught me an importance of community and the process to organise any events.

What skills or knowledge do you hope to gain from this training?

[edit]
  • While I have successfully implemented focused editathons and community projects, I want to learn systematic frameworks for scaling micro-projects beyond single communities. I hope to gain knowledge about project design methodologies that can be replicated across different cultural contexts and language communities, building on my current Gujarat heritage collaboration work.

Based on your selected track, what is one challenge you have encountered in either evaluating Wikimedia programs or designing impactful projects? Please share your experience relevant to your chosen track.

[edit]
  • Challenge: Measuring Long-term Impact Beyond Article Count Metrics

One significant challenge I encountered while organizing my series of targeted editathons was developing meaningful evaluation frameworks that captured true impact beyond basic quantitative metrics. During my Gujarati Culture and Civilization Editathon 2020, we successfully created numerous articles about Gujarat's cultural heritage. However, I struggled to assess whether these articles genuinely filled knowledge gaps or merely added content volume. Traditional metrics like "articles created" and "bytes added" didn't tell me if we were reaching the intended audiences or if the content was actually being used by people seeking information about Gujarati culture.

How do you plan to apply what you learn after the event?

[edit]
  • I plan to apply the training to scale my current Gujarat heritage interwiki project into a broader Indian cultural heritage initiative. Using the frameworks learned in Track 2, I will design replicable micro-project templates that other regional communities can adapt for documenting their own cultural heritage across multiple language Wikipedias.

(Optional) Are you open to mentorship (either receiving or offering it)?

[edit]
  • Yes (receiving)
