Track Preference

[edit]

Your preferred track during the workshop

[edit]
  • Track 1: Evaluation, Impact, and Data Storytelling
  • Track 2: Project Design Challenge – From Learning to Action
  • Track 2

Which track are you most interested in and why?

[edit]
  • I'm interested in Micro-Project Design because the short term projects are useful in engaging several new participants with the Wikimedia projects. Along with these contributors, the end results can be used to rope in institutions (GLAMs in my case) and build a long term partnership with them so that they are able to expand+improve their content on the Wikimedia projects.

Tell us about one Wikimedia program, campaign, or initiative you’ve contributed to in a leadership role

[edit]
  • I was the campaign coordinator for Indian Heritage Online, the purpose of which was to upload the openly accessible images related to India from GLAMs across the world. We were able to engage 15 new contributors to upload 1728 images on Commons as part of the contest. The images were then categorized, geo-tagged and then placed on a map. Through this campaign, we learnt that gamification is a wonderful opportunity to engage new contributors. Also, we need to be well prepared for any event with enough content beforehand, in this case images to upload. As during the event the provided set of images were entirely uploaded, thanks to the enthusiasm of the participants, and we had to search for new set of media to share with them for further uploads.

What skills or knowledge do you hope to gain from this training?

[edit]
  • I hope to gain insights on how to ideate and design campaigns that will engage culture and heritage enthusiasts with Wikimedia projects.
  • Learn to set tangible end goals that can serve as a model for further projects.

Based on your selected track, what is one challenge you have encountered in either evaluating Wikimedia programs or designing impactful projects? Please share your experience relevant to your chosen track.

[edit]
  • It is quite a challenge to engage new volunteers with Wikimedia projects and then to retain them to become long term contributors in the movement.

How do you plan to apply what you learn after the event?

[edit]
  • Main goal is to improve the visibility and increase engagement with Open GLAM content from and of India on Wikimedia projects.
  • I would like to engage with the GLAM movement in India, South Asia as well as the global GLAM Wiki community

(Optional) Are you open to mentorship (either receiving or offering it)?

[edit]
  • Yes, open to both
