Are you currently involved in any leadership, facilitation, or mentoring roles within the Wikimedia movement? If yes, briefly describe the imitative and your involvement in it
[edit]- I am the member of my community user group since it founded and currently, I am one of the contact persons for my community and user group. I am a active Punjabi wikimedian and my initial year’s contribution was more about content creation in Punjabi Wikipedia but after the years, my role got changed as I find what I can give to my community as per my qualities and time-management.

- I have been jury member for online contest and campaigns like women month, Asian month, project tiger etc.
- I have contributed to community for documentation on Meta-Wikimedia which include tasks like project grant proposal writing, report writing and project management and coordination.
Track Preference
[edit]Your preferred track during the workshop
[edit]- Track 1: Evaluation, Impact, and Data Storytelling
Which track are you most interested in and why?
[edit]- My professional skills as a project manager and team coordinator, together with my objective of leveraging output (numbers) to create engaging narratives about the impact of Wikimedia's community activities, are the main reasons I chose this choice.
Tell us about one Wikimedia program, campaign, or initiative you’ve contributed to in a leadership role
[edit]- As previously said, I have planned or co-organized several community events and activities. However, the workshop held for the Punjabi community at Punjab University in Chandigarh in 2016 holds a special place in my heart. Till that time, Chandigarh city had no active Punjabi users, and the Punjabi community's programs were restricted to Patiala city. Thus, setting up a workshop there was quite difficult. During this course, I learnt how to plan a workshop, how to deal with failures, and what to do when you are stuck. I went on to plan further events after this, and things started happening with little bit ease.
What skills or knowledge do you hope to gain from this training?
[edit]- I am hoping to acquire the specialized knowledge and abilities required to evaluate and convey the accomplishments of our community projects. Learning how to create a comprehensive program evaluation is my main objective. Beyond just gathering data, I want to learn how to organize it, evaluate it for insightful conclusions, and display it in an engaging manner. In particular, I want to become an expert in data storytelling, which is the skill of turning edits and numbers into a coherent tale that demonstrates the actual significance of our work. This will be really helpful for my upcoming contributions. In the end, I hope to be able to instruct other community members in these evaluation techniques.
Based on your selected track, what is one challenge you have encountered in either evaluating Wikimedia programs or designing impactful projects? Please share your experience relevant to your chosen track.
[edit]- Despite not being a trained teacher, I work closely with pupils. Teaching youngsters or new learners—that is, deciding which approach to employ—presents a challenge, in my opinion, even if there are several academic issues with teaching any new subject, particularly technical education. According to my observations, they absorb and retain information rapidly when using the storytelling technique. It is crucial to consider how to include storytelling into our teaching methods. Second, we select the most efficient and effective item from the many options available to us in the technology age. For this reason, if we wish to improve the effectiveness of our teaching and learning methods, we must make them more efficient and focused on achieving results. Therefore, in addition to consistently producing material, we need also continue to develop methods, such as surveys, that will allow us to regularly assess whether or not the work we are doing is helping society.
How do you plan to apply what you learn after the event?
[edit]- Through seminars, sessions for Wikimedia contributors, I will impart these insights and assist others in developing data-driven abilities. I will gradually include these techniques into mentorship and strategic planning, helping new contributors to accurately assess and convey their influence.
(Optional) Are you open to mentorship (either receiving or offering it)?
[edit]- Yes, I am open for both.
