Have you participated in any Train the Trainer or similar Wikimedia training before? If yes, please mention the name of the event along with the year in which you participated
[edit]- No, I have not participated in any Train the Trainer or similar Wikimedia training before. However, I have been selected for the Wikimedia Developer Skill Development Program 2025 organized by the Indic MediaWiki Developers User Group, which is scheduled to start in September 2025.
Are you currently involved in any leadership, facilitation, or mentoring roles within the Wikimedia movement? If yes, briefly describe the imitative and your involvement in it
[edit]- I’m the founder of WikiClub Tech-UIT and facilitator of WikiClub Tech- India. Through our Road to Wiki Program, we’ve built regional communities across India by onboarding students from tier 2 and 3 institutions, conducting technical workshops, and mentoring them into becoming active Wikimedia contributors. I also serve as a technical contributor and community representative in the South Asia Newsletter team.
Track Preference
[edit]Your preferred track during the workshop
[edit]- Track 1: Evaluation, Impact, and Data Storytelling
- Track 2: Micro-Project Design Challenge – From Learning to Action
- Track 2
Which track are you most interested in and why?
[edit]- I am most interested in the "Micro-Project Design – From Learning to Action" track. This aligns closely with my current work as a community leader and mentor, where I design and facilitate initiatives like WikiClub Tech-UIT and WikiClub Tech India’s Road to Wiki program. Participating in this track will help me develop actionable community projects, refine my leadership skills, and create a greater impact by guiding students and contributors to implement Wikimedia-based initiatives in their local contexts.
Tell us about one Wikimedia program, campaign, or initiative you’ve contributed to in a leadership role
[edit]- I led the Road to Wiki program under WikiClub Tech India as a facilitator, it is a structured mentorship initiative aimed at training students from tier 2 and 3 colleges to become active Wikimedia contributors. The program involved a two-stage selection, hands-on workshops, and ongoing guidance, resulting in over 100 students being trained and 20 selected contributors actively contributing to Wikimedia projects. Through this experience, I learned how to scale community engagement, mentor effectively, and design initiatives that create lasting impact in the open knowledge ecosystem.
What skills or knowledge do you hope to gain from this training?
[edit]- Through this training, I hope to gain advanced project design, leadership, and implementation skills, along with techniques to effectively engage and mentor contributors in Wikimedia communities. These skills will help me develop impactful, actionable initiatives within WikiClub Tech-UIT and WikiClub Tech India, scale contributor participation, and enhance mentorship frameworks to guide more students in making meaningful contributions to the Wikimedia ecosystem.
Based on your selected track, what is one challenge you have encountered in either evaluating Wikimedia programs or designing impactful projects? Please share your experience relevant to your chosen track.
[edit]- One challenge I have encountered in designing impactful projects is bridging the gap between broad community goals and actionable steps with measurable outcomes. While mentoring students through WikiClub Tech-UIT and WikiClub Tech India, I observed that although participants were enthusiastic and actively contributed to the technical Wikimedia ecosystem by solving and fixing open issues on various projects but struggled to translate their contributions into structured projects with clear milestones, timelines, and measurable impact. Participating in the Micro-Project Design track will allow me to develop advanced project planning skills, incorporate evaluation frameworks, and learn best practices for creating sustainable Wikimedia initiatives that maximize participation, learning, and tangible outcomes for the community.
How do you plan to apply what you learn after the event?
[edit]- After the event, I plan to apply what I learn by designing and implementing structured initiatives within WikiClub Tech-UIT and WikiClub Tech India. I aim to create clear roadmaps, measurable outcomes, and mentorship frameworks for students contributing to the technical ecosystem. Additionally, I plan to share best practices and insights with college chapters and other regional contributors to scale engagement, ensure sustainable impact, and strengthen collaborative initiatives across India.
(Optional) Are you open to mentorship (either receiving or offering it)?
[edit]- Yes, I am open to both receiving mentorship to further refine my project design and leadership skills, and offering mentorship to others, helping them navigate Wikimedia projects and build meaningful contributions.
