Track Preference

Your preferred track during the workshop

[edit]
  • Track 1: Evaluation, Impact, and Data Storytelling
  • Track 2: Project Design Challenge – From Learning to Action
  • Track 1

Which track are you most interested in and why?

[edit]
  • I am most interested in Track 1: Evaluation, Impact, and Data Storytelling. In my current role as a Wikimedian-in-Residence at IIT Delhi, I am working on GLAM collaborations where effectively utilizing data for storytelling is essential to demonstrate outcomes and long-term impact. Additionally, I am associated with the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA), and the skills gained from this track would support me in designing and communicating measurable impact. This would enable me to facilitate a potential collaboration with UNODA in the near future.

Tell us about one Wikimedia program, campaign, or initiative you’ve contributed to in a leadership role

[edit]
  • One of the Wikimedia initiatives I have contributed to in a leadership role is the GLAM IIT Delhi program, where I am serving as the Wikimedian-in-Residence. I initiated this program along with a colleague, beginning with pitching the idea to the Central Library at IIT Delhi and successfully setting up the collaboration. This initiative is among the first GLAM projects undertaken by an institute of higher education in India, and notably with IIT Delhi, an institute of national importance. In this role, I have been leading efforts to integrate Wikimedia platforms into academic and cultural contexts, ensuring that institutional resources are documented and shared with global audiences. The program highlights the value of Wikimedia in academic spaces and also sets a precedent for similar collaborations with premier educational institutions.

What skills or knowledge do you hope to gain from this training?

[edit]
  • Through this training, I hope to strengthen my skills in evaluation, impact measurement, and data storytelling. These are critical areas that will enhance my current work as a Wikimedian-in-Residence at IIT Delhi and also support me in my role as a fellow with the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs. The knowledge gained will directly help me in preparing and delivering a stronger pitch for a future collaboration with the United Nations, where demonstrating measurable impact and clear outcomes will be essential.

Based on your selected track, what is one challenge you have encountered in either evaluating Wikimedia programs or designing impactful projects? Please share your experience relevant to your chosen track.

[edit]
  • One of the main challenges I have encountered is the lack of knowledge, interest, and awareness about Wikimedia projects among institutions. For example, when I initially pitched a GLAM collaboration with the Archives of Jamia Millia Islamia university in New Delhi, my proposal was denied due to limited understanding of the value such a partnership could bring. While this was a setback, it became a learning moment for me. I refined my approach and later pitched the idea to IIT Delhi, where the collaboration was successfully established. This experience highlighted the importance of framing impact effectively and reinforced my need to develop stronger skills in evaluation and data storytelling to make future proposals more compelling.

How do you plan to apply what you learn after the event?

[edit]
  • I plan to apply the knowledge and skills gained from this training in my ongoing work as a Wikimedian-in-Residence at IIT Delhi and in my fellowship with the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA). I aim to use the learning to design stronger evaluation frameworks and data storytelling models that can demonstrate impact effectively. This will directly support my efforts to engage UNODA as a future partner for a Wikimedia collaboration, showcasing how Wikimedia projects can align with and amplify the United Nations' knowledge-sharing and outreach goals.

(Optional) Are you open to mentorship (either receiving or offering it)?
