Have you participated in any Train the Trainer or similar Wikimedia training before? If yes, please mention the name of the event along with the year in which you participated
[edit]I have not attended any Train the Trainer program before, which makes me very excited about this opportunity. However, I have participated in WikiConference India 2023 and Wiki Women Camp 2023, where I attended workshops and training sessions on Wikimedia projects and community development. These two events were truly game changers for me; they inspired me to start Wiki Club SATI, a student-led initiative that now engages 100+ members in contributing to Wikimedia projects.

Are you currently involved in any leadership, facilitation, or mentoring roles within the Wikimedia movement? If yes, briefly describe the imitative and your involvement in it
[edit]Yes, I am currently involved in multiple leadership and mentoring roles within the Wikimedia movement:
- Event Coordinator – Commons Photographers User Group (Jan 2022 – Present):
I coordinate international photography initiatives, organize online and offline sessions, and support contributors in improving their skills in media contributions and licensing.
- Board Secretary – Wikipedia & Education User Group (Nov 2024 – 2026):
In this global governance role, I help design strategies, facilitate community discussions, and support initiatives that strengthen the use of Wikimedia projects in education worldwide.
- Founder – Wiki Club SATI (Nov 2023 – Present):
I established and led a campus-based Wikimedia community that focuses on capacity building for newcomers through workshops, photowalks, and edit-a-thons. I mentor students in contributing to Wikimedia Commons, Wikidata, and Wikipedia, and guide them in participating in global campaigns like Wiki Loves Folklore and Wiki Loves Monuments. Under my leadership and the board's support, the club has grown to over 100 active members, contributed hundreds of images to Commons, and engaged students in structured data and cultural documentation projects.
Additionally, I have served as a Regional Ambassador for Wiki Loves Folklore and as a jury member for campaigns such as Wiki Loves Monuments India and Wiki Loves Earth Ghana, and many more, ensuring fair evaluation and promoting high-quality contributions.
Track Preference
[edit]Your preferred track during the workshop
[edit]- Track 1: Evaluation, Impact, and Data Storytelling
- Track 2: Project Design Challenge – From Learning to Action
Which track are you most interested in and why?
[edit]I am most interested in Track 2: Project Design Challenge – From Learning to Action because I believe impactful projects are the backbone of sustainable community growth. Through my experience leading Wiki Club SATI and coordinating activities within user groups, I have realized that well-structured projects with clear goals and measurable outcomes can significantly enhance participation and retention.
This track aligns with my vision to design initiatives that bridge learning with practical action. For example, I plan to develop projects that combine skill development (such as structured data and Commons contributions) with community engagement through thematic campaigns and institutional collaborations. Learning advanced project design skills will help me:
- Create replicable models for student-driven Wikimedia clubs
- Build impact-focused proposals that attract partnerships and resources
- Ensure sustainability and inclusivity in community-led initiatives
I am also passionate about promoting women in leadership and technology within the Wikimedia ecosystem. Incorporating gender equity into project design is essential to empower more women to take leadership roles, contribute to technical areas, and build confidence within our communities.
By participating in this track, I aim to translate ideas into scalable projects that contribute to the Movement Strategy 2030 goals of knowledge equity, capacity building, and leadership development.
Tell us about one Wikimedia program, campaign, or initiative you’ve contributed to in a leadership role
[edit]One of the key initiatives I’ve contributed to in a leadership role is the establishment and growth of Wiki Club SATI, a campus-based Wikimedia community aimed at fostering open knowledge and collaborative learning. As the founder, I have designed and executed programs that focus on building skills, engaging newcomers, and sustaining participation in Wikimedia projects.
Under this initiative, I have organized multiple training sessions, edit-a-thons, and thematic events aligned with global campaigns such as Wiki Loves Folklore, Wiki Loves Monuments, and Wiki Loves Earth. These activities not only introduced students to Wikimedia projects like Commons, Wikidata, and Wikipedia but also empowered them to contribute quality content. The club has grown to 100+ members, contributing hundreds of images and structured data entries to Wikimedia platforms, thereby supporting Movement Strategy 2030 goals of knowledge equity and capacity building.
One significant milestone in this journey was our first in-person meetup, which provided an opportunity for members to collaborate, share learnings from global events like Wikimania 2025, and plan upcoming campaigns. You can read more about this meetup here: Wiki Club SATI – In-person Meetup 01
What skills or knowledge do you hope to gain from this training?
[edit]From this training, I hope to gain advanced facilitation skills, project design expertise, and impact measurement techniques that will help me strengthen the initiatives I lead across different Wikimedia communities.
As Board Secretary of the Wikipedia & Education User Group, I am actively involved in global strategy planning and community discussions that promote the integration of Wikimedia projects in education. Advanced skills in facilitation and project design will enable me to design impactful educational programs and collaborative initiatives that scale globally.
In my role as Event Coordinator for Commons Photographers User Group, I organize campaigns and outreach activities focused on media contributions. Learning how to structure projects and evaluate their outcomes will help me make these initiatives more sustainable and engaging.
As the Founder of Wiki Club SATI, I lead a campus-based community that has grown to 100+ members and organized multiple training programs, photowalks, and thematic events. With enhanced skills from this training, I aim to create replicable models for student-led Wikimedia communities, design data-driven outreach strategies, and ensure long-term retention of contributors.
By strengthening these skills, I will not only improve the programs I currently manage but also contribute to building inclusive, impactful, and sustainable projects.
Based on your selected track, what is one challenge you have encountered in either evaluating Wikimedia programs or designing impactful projects? Please share your experience relevant to your chosen track.
[edit]One major challenge I have encountered in designing impactful projects is ensuring long-term engagement and measurable outcomes after the initial enthusiasm of an event or campaign fades.
For example, as the founder of Wiki Club SATI, I have successfully organized workshops, photowalks, and thematic events aligned with global campaigns like Wiki Loves Folklore and Wiki Loves Monuments. These events attracted significant participation—our club grew to over 100 members, and we generated hundreds of contributions to Wikimedia Commons. However, retaining active contributors and tracking the real impact of these initiatives beyond the event period has been difficult.
The challenge lies in designing projects with clear follow-up plans, evaluation metrics, and pathways for sustained contributor engagement. While our in-person meetup (Wiki Club SATI – In-person Meetup 01) helped in planning long-term strategies, I realized the need for structured frameworks and measurable indicators to ensure continuity and scale.
Through this training, I hope to gain the skills to design projects with built-in evaluation mechanisms, use data-driven approaches to demonstrate impact, and create replicable models for community growth that go beyond one-time events.
How do you plan to apply what you learn after the event?
[edit]From the perspective of the Wikipedia & Education User Group, I am deeply committed to strengthening EduWiki initiatives in South Asia by creating impactful educational programs and building sustainable structures for participation. In our region, there is immense potential to bridge knowledge gaps and empower students through open knowledge. My focus is on scaling initiatives like campus-based Wiki Clubs, inspired by the model we developed at Wiki Club SATI, and replicating them across institutions to ensure continuity beyond student graduations. As part of this, I aim to develop structured onboarding processes, mentorship frameworks, and leadership programs tailored for educators and student leaders.
Additionally, I plan to collaborate with other regional communities to organize training workshops, peer-learning sessions, and multilingual resources to make Wikimedia projects more inclusive and accessible. These efforts ensures that the work we start here creates long-term impact for the Wikimedia education ecosystem in South Asia and beyond.
(Optional) Are you open to mentorship (either receiving or offering it)?
[edit]- Yes, I am open to both receiving and offering mentorship
