[edit]- Yes, I am involved in mentoring new users not only from the Odia community, but from other communities. I have created a few video tutorials for to guide about Odia Wikisource, how to add reference from news, redirecting an article on Wikipedia, etc. Apart from that, I have trained a few users how to upload photos and videos to the Wikimedia Commons through online sessions and guided a few on basics of Wikidata, Lingua Libre, etc. On behalf of Odia Wikimedians User Group, I have organized more than 30 edit-a-thons for Odia Wikipedia, Odia Wikisource and also collaborated with other communities for [edit-a-thon]. Also participated in different off-wiki events to represent the Odia Wikimedians User Group and shared talk about the Wikimedia Movement and the place of Odia Wikipedia during these days.
Track Preference
[edit]Your preferred track during the workshop
[edit]- Track 1: Evaluation, Impact, and Data Storytelling
Which track are you most interested in and why?
[edit]- Though I work on small projects, but I would go with the Evaluation & Impact, because, I want to improve my skills in measuring program success, understanding participation and retention, and presenting results effectively. These skills will help me in my capacity-building work and increase the impact of my community projects.
Tell us about one Wikimedia program, campaign, or initiative you’ve contributed to in a leadership role

Apart from that, we have created more than 1500 items on Wikidata and updated a few.

- Ratha Jatra edit-a-thon & Wiki Loves Ratha Jatra: In 2023, I took this challenge to restart the edit-a-thon and the campaign on Commons after 2016 to document the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath. What skills or knowledge do you hope to gain from this training?
[edit]- Through this training, I hope to develop a strong ability to turn data into meaningful stories that can guide and strengthen our community’s work. I want to go beyond just presenting numbers and reports, learning instead to weave clear and engaging narratives that bring our data to life. By gaining these skills, I will be able to highlight the true impact of our campaigns, showing how each effort contributes to our shared goals. These insights will not only help shape future projects but also motivate others to join, while reminding long-time members of the lasting value of their contributions.
Based on your selected track, what is one challenge you have encountered in either evaluating Wikimedia programs or designing impactful projects? Please share your experience relevant to your chosen track.
[edit]- Because my community has only a few active editors, I often feel disheartened when comparing our edit-a-thon results to those of larger communities. However, I remind myself that with just three or four dedicated contributors, creating more than 100 articles is actually a significant achievement. Our usual way of evaluating edit-a-thons focuses mainly on the number of articles produced, but this approach often overlooks an important factor—the quality and relevance of those articles to our language community.
How do you plan to apply what you learn after the event?
[edit]- I will share these learnings through workshops, blogs, and sessions for Wikimedia contributors, helping others build data-driven skills. Over time, I will integrate these practices into strategic planning and mentorship, guiding new contributors to measure and communicate their impact effectively.
(Optional) Are you open to mentorship (either receiving or offering it)?
[edit]- Yes, I am open for both.
