Track Preference
[edit]Your preferred track during the workshop
[edit]- Track 1: Evaluation, Impact, and Data Storytelling
Which track are you most interested in and why?
[edit]- I am interested in Track 1 because my work spans both community engagement and governance, and I see the need to strengthen my skills in measuring program effectiveness, analysing participation and retention, and presenting results in ways that inspire and influence. These skills will directly support my AffCom capacity-building work, help affiliates measure their growth, and enhance the impact of my community projects.
Tell us about one Wikimedia program, campaign, or initiative you’ve contributed to in a leadership role
[edit]- Wiki Science Competition 2025 India, COT member
- I served as International Jury Coordinator for Wiki Loves Folklore (2023–2024), helping to curate and evaluate folklore-related media from global contributors. This role enhanced the visibility of diverse cultural expressions and reinforced Commons’ role as a repository for intangible heritage documentation.
- I was Campaign Lead for the Medicinal Tree Mapping Campaign, a hybrid initiative to map and document medicinal heritage trees using structured media and geolocation. The campaign enriched Commons with culturally and ecologically significant media, engaging both local and remote contributors. Through this, I learned how structured data and hybrid outreach can preserve knowledge and foster participation across geographic boundaries.
- As a Member of the Wikipedia Asian Month International Steering Committee, I collaborated with global community leaders to coordinate the annual campaign, support participating communities, and ensure consistent rules and resources. This strengthened international collaboration and helped highlight underrepresented Asian content on Wikipedia.
- COT Member for Wiki Conference India, 2023
- As a core organising team member for Wiki Loves Monuments 2017 in India, I coordinated volunteer outreach and content review. The campaign resulted in thousands of high-quality heritage photo submissions and demonstrated the value of clear coordination, volunteer engagement, and documentation.
- For more details plese see my other involments here.
What skills or knowledge do you hope to gain from this training?
[edit]- I aim to gain advanced skills in program evaluation, impact measurement, and data storytelling that go beyond basic metrics. Specifically, I want to learn practical methods for tracking long-term engagement, assessing qualitative impact, and presenting results in ways that resonate with both community members and external stakeholders. These skills will directly support my current leadership roles including Vice-Chair of AffCom, Lead of the Capacity Building Working Group, and campaigns like Wiki Loves Folklore and the Medicinal Tree Mapping Campaign by enabling me to design evidence-based strategies, demonstrate impact, and mentor affiliates and community organisers to do the same.
Based on your selected track, what is one challenge you have encountered in either evaluating Wikimedia programs or designing impactful projects? Please share your experience relevant to your chosen track.
[edit]- In several campaigns I have led or coordinated, such as Wiki Loves Folklore, the Medicinal Tree Mapping Campaign, and Wiki Loves Monuments, immediate outputs likethe number of participants or media uploads were straightforward to measure. However, I have consistently found it challenging to track the long-term impact, such as sustained contributor activity, content reuse, or changes in community capacity. This gap makes it harder to tell a complete story of the program’s value, especially when communicating with partners or funders. I see this as a key area for growth: developing systematic ways to capture both quantitative and qualitative outcomes over time, and then translating that data into compelling, actionable narratives.
How do you plan to apply what you learn after the event?
[edit]- I plan to immediately integrate the learning into my work as Vice-Chair of AffCom and Lead of the Capacity Building Working Group by helping affiliates adopt better evaluation practices and impact reporting. For community projects like Wiki Loves Folklore, the Medicinal Tree Mapping Campaign, and GLAM partnerships, I will embed clear measurement frameworks from the start and use data storytelling to showcase results to the community, partners, and the public. I also intend to organise follow-up training sessions for Hindi Wikimedians User Group members and other interested communities, so that the skills and tools I gain can be shared widely and lead to stronger, evidence-based program design across the Wikimedia movement.
(Optional) Are you open to mentorship (either receiving or offering it)?
[edit]- I am open to supporting others and would also love to learn from their experiences.
