  • What is Advanced Train the Trainer (ATTT) 2025?

Advance TTT 2025 is an in-person leadership, encourages structured mentorship and capacity-building, designed for experienced Wikimedians. It focuses on developing domain expertise, strengthening project design and evaluation skills, and enabling collaboration within and beyond the Wikimedia movement.

  • How is it different from the earlier Train the Trainer (TTT) programs?

Advanced TTT is a focused and thematic version of the TTT program. While earlier TTTs focused broadly on training and facilitation skills, Advance TTT dives deeper into specialised tracks such as:

Evaluation, Impact, and Data Storytelling
Project Design

It also includes invited external experts and a stronger emphasis on real-world application of learning.

  • Who can apply for Advanced TTT 2025?

Wikimedians from India (or based in India) who:

Have 2+ years of active engagement in Wikimedia projects
Have led or significantly contributed to programs, campaigns, or community initiatives
Are interested in taking up thematic leadership roles or launching community-impact projects
  • When and where will the event take place?

Advanced TTT 2025 will be held in October 2025, at IIIT-Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Final dates for the event are 10, 11, and 12 October 2025.

  • How many participants will be selected?

We plan to select around 20 participants, 10 in each track.

  • How do I apply?

You will need to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) using a form or template provided on the Meta-Wiki page. The EOI includes basic details, track preference, and a short one-pager outlining your experience and motivation.

  • What is the time commitment for participants?

Participants are expected to:

Attend the full 3-day in-person event (with travel and 4-night stay)
Engage in pre-event onboarding (1–2 online calls)
Complete a post-event project or knowledge-sharing activity over 2–3 months (optional but encouraged)
  • Will scholarships or travel support be provided?

Yes. Selected participants will receive support covering:

Travel (economy class/local transport)
Accommodation and meals during the event
Reimbursement guidelines will be shared with selected applicants
  • Can I apply if I’m part of an affiliate or chapter?

Yes, the program welcomes participants affiliated with recognised user groups, chapters, or informal Wikimedia communities or individuals.

  • Can I choose which track I’ll be part of?

Yes

  • Will the event be documented or shared publicly?

Yes. Key learnings, resources, and outcomes from the event will be documented and shared on Meta-Wiki. Participants may also contribute blog posts, reports, or tools from their track experiences.

  • Who is organizing Advanced TTT 2025?

Advanced TTT is being organised by the Open Knowledge Initiatives (OKI) team, with support from IIIT-Hyderabad and a team of thematic experts, facilitators, and program staff.

  • Is this event open to international participants?

No. Advanced TTT 2025 is currently open only to Wikimedians who are based in India or have been actively contributing to Indian Wikimedia communities. This focus allows the program to address region-specific challenges, opportunities, and contexts for leadership development.
