IRC/Group Contacts/Meetings/August 2009

Details[edit]

We plan to use moderation (+m) at times during the meeting. Nothing has been set in stone and we'll likely see how things go. However, the preliminary plan is for the group contacts to introduce a topic, make their opening remarks (while the channel is +m) and then allow the channel to present comments or questions on the issue. Moderation will be reintroduced as needed. We will repeat this process for each topic being discussed. We expect a significant number of users to participate in the meeting and moderation will help to ensure that the meeting remains organized as well as to make sure that everybody's comments are seen and responded to without getting lost in the other chat.

Logs of the meeting are posted at /Log and minutes are at /Minutes.

Topics for discussion[edit]

  1. Effective usage of #wikimedia-ops —Sean Whitton
  2. Success (or otherwise) of lines of communication to contacts (irc-contacts[-owner]@ being main one at present) —Sean Whitton
  3. Developer cloaks - just wondering if there's any major blocker to us doing these?
  4. Good procedures when the wikis go down. kmccoy 19:24, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
  5. Public logging  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 18:16, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
  6. Use of IRC to obtain assistance from Wikipedia functionaries (CheckUsers and Oversighters). harej 05:55, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
    This isn't limited to Wikipedia, in fact cross-wiki co-ordination is at least as important.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 18:16, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
