The Igala Wikimedia Community successfully self-funded and participated in the Feminism and Folklore 2025 international campaign, held from 1 February to 31 March 2025. Wiki Loves Folklore 1st March-30th April 2025 in the Igala Community

The Igala Wikimedia Community proudly participated in Wiki Loves Folklore 2025, documenting and preserving Igala cultural heritage on Wikimedia platforms. This successful campaign was entirely self-sponsored which demonstrate our commitment to safeguarding indigenous knowledge and promoting free access to cultural information. Wiki Loves Africa 1st March-30th April 2025 in the Igala Community

Wiki Loves Africa 2025 in the Igala Community was a huge success, made possible with the support of a Rapid Grant. With the theme “From Farm to Plate,” community members documented and shared rich visual stories of Igala food systems and agriculture on Wikimedia Commons, recording a total of 213 uploads. Building Igala Wikipedia Community Through Campus Engagement Campaign

Building Igala Wikipedia Community Through Campus Engagement Campaign Is an initiative aimed at expanding the Igala Wikipedia by engaging students in higher institutions across Kogi State. This outreach program will focus on teaching Igala-speaking students how to contribute to Igala Wikipedia, thereby preserving and promoting their language and culture online. The campaign was carried out in three key institutions in Kogi State:
- Prince Abubakar Audu University, Formerly known as Kogi State University Anyigba
- Kogi State Polytechnic
- Idah Polytechnic

Igala Wikimedia Community participated in the The SheSaid 2025 in Nigeria in collaboration with other communities, the communities; are Abuja Anambara and Imo the aim is to globally amplify women's voices by documenting new quotes and improving existing quotes from women on Wikiquote; creating new and improving existing Wikipedia articles about notable women, and lastly creating new and improving Wikidata items about women. click here to see Meta Page and Outreach Dashboard

WikiForHumanRights 2025 in the Igala Wikimedia Community is a collaborative campaign focused on promoting the Right to a Healthy Environment and Knowledge for a Sustainable Future through open knowledge. The initiative will engage Igala speakers to create, improve, and translate content on Wikipedia and other Wikimedia platforms in both Igala and English, highlighting local environmental issues, human rights stories, and indigenous knowledge. Wikidata 13th Birthday October 2025

The Igala Wikimedia Community successfully organized the “Introducing the Igala Wikimedia Community to Wikidata” event as part of the celebration of Wikidata’s 13th anniversary. The event aimed to introduce community members to Wikidata, its importance within the Wikimedia ecosystem, and opportunities for contributing structured open data.
The celebration was held in two phases: a virtual session on Friday, 31 October 2025, at 2:00 PM, followed by a physical gathering on Saturday, 1 November 2025. Through these activities, participants gained a better understanding of Wikidata and its role in supporting free knowledge, while new contributors were encouraged to join and contribute to the platform.
The event marked an important step in strengthening Wikidata awareness and participation within the Igala Wikimedia Community.
