Backstory[edit]

After participating in the launching of the Igbo Wiki Fan Club, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) which was the Launching of Wikipedia Training and the 2022 1st Igbo Wikipedia Edit-a-thon held in UNN, respectively in 2022, Iwuala Lucy saw the need to involve more students across the 5 Eastern States in Nigeria, starting with Imo State by creating awareness and training undergraduate students in Nigeria. She took a giant step of recruiting participants and organising tutorial sessions for new editors/translators in Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri, Imo State under the Igbo Wikimedians User Group. The training was aimed at introducing, sensitizing, increasing awareness, participation and to improve Nigerian content on Igbo Wikipedia, and other sister project of the Wikimedia Foundation. The training turned out successful and she is eager to organize more training.

Iwuala Lucy was encouraged by the impact, involvement and feedback of the training and she decided to organize more training with the aim of recruiting more students and interested participants in Imo State for involvement in the Wikimedia Foundation projects. For follow-ups and guidance she created a WhatsApp group. Join the WhatsApp group
