Overview

In today’s digital age, the rapid spread of information through social media and online platforms has created both opportunities and challenges. While digital platforms amplify voices and increase access to knowledge, they have also become fertile grounds for misinformation (false information shared without intent to deceive) and disinformation (deliberately misleading information intended to manipulate, harm, or polarize).

Information Integrity Workshop 2025

This year’s theme “Strengthening Information Integrity: Building Media and Civil Society Resilience Against Disinformation & Misinformation” scheduled for 27th November 2025 at Open Foundation West Africa (OFWA) Head Office - Sal Heights - Adjacent Dimeansa Restaurant.

Media actors and civil society organizations (CSOs) play a critical role in safeguarding information integrity. Strengthening their capacity to recognize, counter, and prevent the harmful effects of false narratives is essential for ensuring an informed public and a resilient democratic society.

Objectives

The workshop seeks to:

1. Enhance the capacity of media and CSO actors to identify, analyze, and respond to misinformation and disinformation.

2. Build resilience among media and CSOs by promoting fact-checking, responsible reporting, and effective communication strategies.

3. Foster collaboration between journalists, CSOs, and fact-checking organizations for coordinated responses to harmful narratives.

4 Contribute to long-term strategies for safeguarding democratic institutions and social cohesion in Ghana.
