The board evaluated and formally approved the strategic and activity plan for the 2026–2027 cycle. (Based on last year work and Community feedback/suggestions.)
Members identified specific community needs and agreed to expand support through targeted workshops designed to enhance technical wiki skills.
The board established and reached a consensus on the initial Wikimedia Iraq Administration and Governance framework, which is scheduled for a comprehensive review and improvement phase by the end of the current year.
To optimize organizational performance, the board provided structured feedback and strategic suggestions to the Director to further refine Wikimedia Iraq’s operational workflows.

The council evaluated the opportunity to host the 2026 Wikimedia Iraq Annual Meetup in Erbil, a move designed to decentralize activities and ensure broader community participation across the country.
Participants emphasized the critical importance of providing ongoing support to the AUIS Wiki Club to guarantee its long-term sustainability and growth within the academic environment.
The team discussed scaling the Wiki for Women initiative by building on the success of the 2025 Baghdad workshop, with plans to implement expanded sessions in both Erbil and Baghdad during 2026.

On the 18th of Jan 2025, the usergroup held the annual meeting to plan for 2025 activities

Organize an offline meeting to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the usergroup this year in Baghdad.
Organize Wikilove monuments, Wikimedia Iraq, Mesopotamia Editathon, and Gulf Contest.
Organize the Arabic Wikipedia Day this year in Mosul.
Elect Ali Khaleel to lead the usergroup activities until June 2026.
Establish a Board of 5 experienced members, and elect the Members for 1 year.
Start drafting policies of the user group.
apply for the next round of the general support fund to achieve the planned activities.

The wikimedians on messenger group agreed to do the meeting on Saturday 6th of January – 8PM Baghdad Time.
