Mahatma Gandhi 2025 edit-a-thon is a mini edit-a-thon that is to be conducted from 30 September to 2 October 2025. The objective of this edit-a-thon is to improve content related to Mahatma Gandhi on any Wikimedia project. Any Wikimedian, with a registered Wikimedia account, can take part in this Wiki-event.

Rules

This edit-a-thon focuses on creating articles related to Mahatma Gandhi.
You can create articles or else can translate from English Wikipedia to your local language Wikipedia.
If you are creating a new article, please add at least two sections. In every section at least add 5-10 sentences.
Add appropriated references from various sources like established newspapers, popular books, magazines, websites, journals.
Personal blogs are opinions should not be used as a valid reference.

Prizes

This is not a competition, but more like a celebration, and a remembrance. We do not have any target of NN number of articles to be created or expanded, or BB bytes to be added. The idea is to make some contribution.

Result

The article creation initiative, scheduled from 30th September to 2nd October, witnessed active participation from ten language communities. Although the official timeline was limited to three days, some communities extended the duration to accommodate local festivals and ensure better participation. The event successfully encouraged multilingual collaboration, resulting in the creation of a large number of new articles across various Wikipedias.

On Doteli Wikipedia, User:Janak Bhatta made a remarkable contribution by creating a total of eleven new articles. On Odia Wikipedia, fifty-five articles were created by three contributors, with User:Hpsatapathy leading with thirty-two articles, followed by User:Aliva Sahoo with twenty articles and User:Ssgapu22 with three articles. Meanwhile, one article was created by User:Dumbassman on Afrikaans Wikipedia and two articles by User:Rulwarih on Malay Wikipedia.

Tulu Wikipedia recorded four new articles, contributed by three users — User:Kavitha G. Kana created two articles, while User:Vinoda Mamatharai and User:Shreelatha.Halemane each created one. On Kannada Wikipedia, User:A826 contributed five articles. Gujarati Wikipedia saw the participation of four users, who collectively created twenty-one articles. Among them, User:Snehrashmi created the highest number with ten articles, followed by User:Brihaspati and User:Gazal world with three each, and User:Meghdhanu with two.

In the Assamese Wikipedia community, five users created a total of sixteen articles. User:নৰুনা বৰুৱা contributed seven, User:JyotiPN created six, User:Dipankar Das added two, and User:Bezboruah Imon contributed one article.

Four users of the Punjabi Wikimedians User Group had created 3 new articles and improve 24 articles during this period. User:Charan Gill had improved a highest number of articles. User:Harry sidhuz had improved 4 articles. User:Aman Arora PTL had created 2 articles and User:Kuldeepburjbhalaike had created 1 article and improved 1 article.

Overall, the initiative demonstrated the collaborative strength of Wikimedia communities, fostering regional language growth and encouraging contributors to actively enrich their respective Wikipedias through dedicated and collective effort.
