Maithili Wikimedians User Group/Wikimedia SAARC 2025/26 Community Engagement Survey Report

Maithili Wikimedians User Group conducted a community engagement survey to collect the current sentiments and interests within the South Asian Wikip(m)edia Communities to host a 'Wikimedia SAARC' regional conference in Kathmandu, Nepal. We have reached 16 affiliates and 429 active users from 34 Wikipedia language communities based in South Asia.

It is expected that the results from the engagement survey can provide insight about the priorities of the South Asian community, which in turn can help the organizers to plan for the very first iteration of the Wikimedia SAARC conference, where people from 8 different nations join in for a common goal.

The survey was open for all from 7 January 2025 to 24 January 2025. The survey report is as follows:

  3. Maybe (15.8%)

Note: The survey response split is 78 'Yes' + 15 Maybe’s + 2 No’s + 1 proposed a different location. It works out to 96.87% response in favour of the proposed SAARC conference in Kathmandu, Nepal.
