Unable to endorse a learning pattern[edit]

@Jmorgan: I got the error There was an error, please try again everything I tried to add an endorsement to Grants:Learning patterns/Keeping documentation of discussions with team. Helder 21:19, 13 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi He7d3r. Thanks for the heads-up. Can you tell me what OS/browser you're using? I just added an endorsement successfully to that pattern (Chrome build 43.0.2357.132 on Mac OS 10.10.3). Also pinging Jeph_paul. Jmorgan (WMF) (talk) 19:47, 15 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Jmorgan (WMF): I tested using Firefox 39.0 on Linux. Helder 20:04, 15 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

`null` for IPs[edit]

See Special:Diff/20766380 - "Endorsed by null" - mw.user.getName() is null for anonymous users, though so is mw.config.get( 'wgUserName' ), so I'm not sure what the replacement should be... --DannyS712 public (talk) 21:12, 8 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Service: courtesy pings to ESanders (WMF) and MusikAnimal (WMF) as they both have recently editted the Gadget recently. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 14:55, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
IP addresses are not available synchronously is JS, but can be fetched with the userinfo API. I don’t really know about this gadget but you could also replace “null” with “logged out user” or just not make the gadget available while logged out. Maybe a dumb question, but what's the point of showing username in summary when it is already explicitly presented in page history? I could not see any significant benefits here, only possibilities that admins have to do more to hide summary along with username when abused by LTAs. IMHO something like "Endorsed via addMe.js" looks better. --WhitePhosphorus (talk) 15:37, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Not done (a) there is not an actual proposed fix; (b) discussion is still continuing as to what the proposed fix may end up being. Feel free to reactivate the ER if this gets sorted. — xaosflux Talk 20:07, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
