Brighton Wikimedia Meetup Number 5
[edit]Date and time: Saturday 14 June 2025, 12:00 (midday)
[edit]Location: The Bright Helm, West Street, BN1 2RE
[edit]The pub is a short walk downhill in an almost straight line towards the sea from Brighton railway station.
Add your name to this list if you can make it to our fifth meeting. People of all ages and all Wikimedia projects (including people who are just curious) are welcome! There's no need to stay all day if you're busy—you can stay for as long or as little as you like.
Please also invite any Brighton or Sussex Wikimedia people you know (or have had wiki dealings with) – spread the word! Spouses/partners and +1s are welcome.
- With Laura. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts?
- Hopefully, but I can't promise. Thryduulf (talk: meta · en.wp · wikidata) 21:25, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
Potentially, as I am not currently busy that weekend. Joseph2302 (talk) 15:39, 7 May 2025 (UTC)Turns out I am now busy in London on Saturday. Joseph2302 (talk) 17:07, 10 June 2025 (UTC)Busy in the evening but still might be able to accommodate this. Don't know if future Mrs333 is around (to chat to Laura about weddings) Ritchie333 (talk) 07:47, 8 May 2025 (UTC)Unfortunately it doesn't look like I'll be able to get there now. Ritchie333 (talk) 14:13, 10 June 2025 (UTC)- Relatives are visiting but are returning home at some point on Saturday, so I should be able to make it for some or all of the day; will update nearer the time when I know my schedule for the day. Hassocks5489 (talk) 09:24, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- Should be looking good for my usual 11.30am-ish arrival, in which case I will try to nab one of the "usual" tables upstairs near the top of the staircase. Will text Harry on the day if I do end up having to arrive late. Hassocks5489 (talk) 12:49, 11 June 2025 (UTC)
- My schedule for this day is clear so hopefully. Lavalizard101 (talk) 11:33, 7 June 2025 (UTC)

Interested but can't make it
[edit]- Don't think I can make it this time. the wub "?!" 22:35, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- I want to attend but university commitments have me unable to make this one. Acalamari 23:42, 7 June 2025 (UTC)
- Likely not, not available until the evening. --Lcawte (talk) 20:32, 9 June 2025 (UTC)
Informal chitchat with no set agenda. If the weather is reasonable, we may go for a walk after lunch to take photos. You can join whenever you like and stay for as long or as little as you want. You can email Harry if you're arriving later and want to know where we are.
If you have some ideas for discussion topics, please put them below.
- Is there any enthusiasm for regular meetups or more structured events in Brighton? Would people like to see meetups or events elsewhere?
- Local articles that could be written or improved. Brighton has plenty of interesting architecture and lots of potential good or featured articles.
- If the UK participates in Wiki Loves Monuments this September, do we want to do something in-person in Brighton?
A social gathering for Wikimedia enthusiasts, where
- Some of us will drink beer, some will have soft drinks. Some might have lunch.
- We chat about Wikipedia and any other topics we fancy
- We might go for a walk (weather dependent!) and look at notable local features or move to another pub
Mainly a casual social event. You can expect to meet some very keen Wikipedians, however this is also an open invitation to anyone interested in finding out more about Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, projects re-using Wikipedia, and other collaborative wiki projects. Feel free to join us for as long or as little as you like.
Look for Wikipedia-themed hoodies or t-shirts. You can email Harry if you're not sure.
The Bright Helm (Q88915773) is a Wetherspoons pub on West Street, between the railway station and the seafront. The station is just under ten minutes' walk away. West Street is served by many buses heading for the station; many other buses stop within walking distance. There is a multi-storey car park next door. Wifi and food are available in the pub.
We normally sit upstairs near Table 78 (if available) where it's a bit quieter but if steps are a problem for you, just say and we will make sure we get a table downstairs. There is step-free access to the pub itself. Feel free to reach out or use the talk page if you have any questions.
