Edinburgh Wikimedia Meetup Number 16

[edit]

Date and time: Saturday 29 June 2024, 11:15-14:00

[edit]

***Sky is clear, no rain forecast! Picnic it is :) ***

At the last meetup we agreed to try and make this meetup a Wiknic (picnic) if the weather is good. So if the sky is clear and there is no chance of rain then we will have it in the Princes Street Gardens. Please bring a blanket and picnic stuff.

An email will be sent out closer to the date, likely 24 hours beforehand, that will confirm which of the two locations we will meet at.

Location: If weather is good

It is important to note that I might have work commitment that might prevent my attendance. I will try to come if I can.

Agenda

The meetup will be an informal gathering with no formal agenda, but please feel free to add any topics that you'd like to raise for discussion.

About the meetup

[edit]

This is intended to include any interested Wikimedians who find themselves in Edinburgh or can make their way to Edinburgh on the day. Anyone who has attended previous meetups in Glasgow or Edinburgh encouraged to return to meet new faces! It will be a social gathering for Wikimedia enthusiasts, where we...

  • Have a bite to eat and a drink.
  • Chat about Wikipedia and any other topics we fancy!
  • Explore how we can encourage others to engage with Wikipedia and arrangements for future Edinburgh Wiki meetups.
  • Maybe edit a few Wikipedia articles or contribute to other Wiki projects.

This is mainly a casual social event. You can expect to meet some very keen Wikipedians and some newbies. However this is an open invitation to anyone interested in finding out more about Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, projects re-using Wikipedia, and other collaborative wiki projects. Feel free to come along and raise these discussions!

We intend to host the event on every second month, always on the last Saturday of the month, starting at 11:15 am. However people are free to arrive later or leave early, it is a relaxed social event.

Although the location opens at 11:00 am the event will start a little later at 11:15 so the cafe's staff have some time to setup after opening.

Location of the Shrub Cafe' at the Zero Waste Hub at 22 Bread Street, Edinburgh. Meeting here only if there is a chance of rain.

The Shrub Coop cafe is extremely accessible via train for those travelling from outside the city via Waverley station, and via bus for Edinburgh residents. It offers food, drinks, and WiFi and should give us plenty of room to meet and have a chat after work!
