We chatted about potential meetup locations at Oxford 85 and there was some interest in Portsmouth in April. So here it is!

People of all ages and all Wikimedia projects are welcome. Complete newbies also welcome! Please also invite any local Wikimedia people you know (or have had wiki dealings with) – spread the word!

Add your name to the list by adding an asterisk and four tildes like this: * ~~~~

As about a 40-60min 21/23 free bus for me with a five/hour frequency even on Sundays I'd really like to make this one -- DeirgeDel tac 19:33, 14 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

May be attending[edit]

Interested but not attending[edit]

  • I can't make this date unfortunately. Thryduulf (talk: meta · en.wp · wikidata) 11:04, 21 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  • Good to see a new location for meetups, but am busy that day. Joseph2302 (talk) 12:07, 21 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  • Not attending for reasons I will not mention here. Sorry. -- DeirgeDel tac 18:19, 8 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  • That photo of the pub looks familiar :) I won't be able to make that day, unfortunately, but Portsmouth is a good location for me for future events. Hassocks5489 (talk) 17:13, 9 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  • Busy on this day, but good to see some more suggestions for meet-up locations. Ritchie333 (talk) 13:16, 10 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  • Pleased to see face-to-face meetups coming back. Will keep looking for opportunity to attend. Six weeks plus notice might help.SovalValtos (talk) 08:48, 21 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Informal chitchat with no set agenda.

If you have some ideas for discussion topics, please put them below.

  • @HJ Mitchell Cating my library is todo item 499, but this list is where I've kept {{Cite Q}} compatible OL borrowables plus some of my offline library. Your list inspired 1, 2, & 3 - thankyou. Due to my known my known inciviliities anything bee related is likely off the menu. Hopefully the lions will finally roar though! -- (Stout 321 thoughts) DeirgeDel tac 12:10, 1 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

About the meet up[edit]

A social gathering for Wikimedia enthusiasts, where we...

  • Drink coffee and/or beer and some of us have Sunday lunch.
  • Chat about Wikipedia and any other topics we fancy.

Mainly a casual social event. You can expect to meet some very keen Wikipedians; however, this is also an open invitation to anyone interested in finding out more about Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, projects re-using Wikipedia, and other collaborative wiki projects. Feel free to come along and raise these discussions over a beer. Alcohol consumption is optional.

The Isambard Kingdom Brunel pub

The Isambard Kingdom Brunel is a Wetherspoons pub, named for the 19th Century engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel who was born less than half a mile away. Wifi and food are available.

It's usually easy to find us, look for anyone with a laptop out or a Wikipedia T-shirt, lapel badge or similar.

Getting there[edit]

The pub is on the corner of Guildhall Walk and King Henry I street, opposite Guildhall Square (note it is not on Isambard Brunel Road). It is about 5 minutes walk from Portsmouth and Southsea station, and 15 minutes walk from Portsmouth Harbour station, the main bus station ("The Hard") and Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.

There are two car parks on Alec Rose Lane about 2 minutes walk away from the pub, details are on the Portsmouth City Council website. There is also a Park & Ride service.
