UK virtual Wikimedia Meetup 15
[edit]Date and time: Thursday 25 August 2022 20:00—22:00 (note later starting time)
Join at any time you can, no need to stay for the whole event.
Location: Online
We will use Zoom video chat, the link is below. the wub will host.
You can expect to meet some very keen Wikimedians, and complete newbies are also welcome, as is anyone interested in finding out more about Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects. We typically chat about goings-on in the Wiki-verse and life in general, and sometimes will work together on some editing. If you have suggestions for topics, please add them below.
Note that we're using video conferencing, but there's no obligation to have your camera on if you prefer not to show your face. Or indeed your microphone: some people do just come along and listen in.
Feel free to join from anywhere you may be, in the UK or elsewhere! And please invite any Wikimedia people you know (or have had wiki dealings with) who might be interested – spread the word!

Suggested topics
[edit]- Wikimania happened recently with a variety of online and physical events. We might share our personal experiences and links to useful resources. For example, here's the slides for a talk Wikidata for Wizards, presented by Navino Evans and Simon Cobb at the Newspeak House event. Andrew D. (talk) 09:26, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
- I had a little play with wikidata concerning handling the height of a footballer and the accuracy on English Wikipedia was disputed on UK national television. I have also had a little play with SPARQL attempting to get the architect/architectural-style associated with railway stations in Ireland, but mainly had to load the information for a couple of stations myself. Deirge Ó Dhaoinebeaga(a)talk 18:48, 22 August 2022 (UTC)
