Memory of the World challenge 2025/Prizes

The Khalili Collections are donating some beautiful, colourful books on the theme of cultural diversity to the highest scorers in the Memory of the World challenge.
Winners will be contacted privately after the end of September for a postal address so they can receive the printed books.
Each book combines extensive colour photography with historical essays (in English) by prominent experts.
1st prize: Science, Tools & Magic by Francis Maddison and Emilie Savage-Smith, a luxurious two-volume set describing hundreds of objects from the Islamic world in full colour.

2nd-4th prizes:
- Enamels of the World, 1700–2000 by Haydn Williams, a large catalogue showing 300 enamel artworks from China, Japan, the Islamic Lands and Europe. It includes works by master artists including Fabergé and Lalique.
- The Arts of War: Arms and Armour of the 7th to 19th Centuries by David Alexander, another gorgeous catalogue showing objects from across the Islamic world.
- Let’s Explore the Memory of the World is a vibrant, 200-page children's book that brings history to life with colourful illustrations and fascinating stories about cultural treasures of Asia and the Pacific. (provided by the UNESCO Memory of the World team)
5th-8th prizes: Top Trumps: Islamic Art These cards combine photographs from the Khalili Collections with facts about each object. Use them for play, learning, or just admire the art from many places and eras.
Each of the 8 winners will get a canvas bag from UNESCO with further information about the Memory of the World programme.
