Mentor Me!
The Mentor Me! program aims to help community members understand Wikimedia projects such as Wikipedia, Wiktionary, Wikimedia Commons, Wikidata, and others. The program is open to the wider Wikimedia community to participate.
Program objectives
The objectives of the Mentor Me! program are as follows:
- Improve Editing Skills: Mentor Me! aims to encourage members of the Wikimedia community to learn the basic skills to edit key Wikimedia sister projects.
- Open Knowledge Sharing: Mentor Me! brings together community members knowledgeable in editing key Wikimedia projects, and comes to share from their wealth of experience with community members in need.
- Promotion of the Underrepresented: Mentor Me! seeks to create an avenue for more articles to be written and improved across multiple-language Wikipedia editions to promote knowledge of underrepresented topics, such as the Nenzit region of the Nigerian Middle Belt.
History
- About four new non-Tyap-speaking editors started being mentored on editing Wikidata and uploading on Wikimedia Commons by Friday musa between circa October 2024 and mid-2025.
- The move to encourage more members of the TWU to participate in English language projects for the promotion of Nenzit-related edits was made by Kambai Akau with the creation of the Mentor Me! program in August 2025.
- In 2026, the TWU decides to have the Mentor Me! program done in two parts each year.
