Done, target username had mostly edits to userpage and was very old, plus this looks like a valid case. Pmlineditor (t · c · l) 13:02, 9 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This user does not exist on metawiki. Cordially, -- Quentinv57 (talk) 17:38, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I didn't know that I had to create my SUL account on metawiki first. Done now. Regards -- Mierzwiak (talk) 13:34, 8 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm quite confused about this one; it would be great if you clarified what you exactly want to do. Pmlineditor (t · c · l) 15:23, 8 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well... first of all, I'd like to point out that it's not easy for newbies to overlook the consequences when it comes to creating an account.
I created mine ("Mierzwiak") on dewiki, frwiki, metawiki and commonswiki, then went over to enwiki to find out that somebody else had already used that name before (just as on trwiki, these two accounts are not mine). Neither did I know where to look up if a name had already been used on any wiki (I do now...) nor did I know anything about SUL. If I had, I would have picked another name straight away.
I then chose a new name, "Brakehorsepower", after making sure it had never been used by anybody. This is my SUL now. I'm currently asking for renaming the four "Mierzwiak" accounts I created. This has already been done on commonswiki, unfortunately the new account is not attached to my SUL (not sure whether this really is a problem).
Now here on metawiki I did not create a new account "Brakehorsepower" because it wasn't technically possible (I got an error message saying that this name is already in use). And as you can read above "Do not create an account under the new name.", I didn't create it by surfing on metawiki while being logged in with my SUL on another wiki, either (again, a fact I've only learned after a certain time - you automatically create an account in a local wiki when you're logged in with your SUL and then skip languages, or open a new tab in your browser and visit another wiki simultaneously... how is a newbie supposed to know that?)
So I asked here for renaming my "Mierzwiak" account into "Brakehorsepower" and attaching it to the SUL.
Then "Quentinv57" answered: "This user does not exist on metawiki.", which I don't quite understand (remember, "Do not create an account under the new name."). But I did as I was told and created the "Brakehorsepower" account (while being logged in on another wiki with my SUL).
Hope I have clarified everything. I simply wish to have my remaining three "Mierzwiak" accounts renamed, deleted or whatever; and it would be great if there were some links and explanations on the Create account pages, concerning SUL and how to find out if a name has already been used before on any wiki. This would make things a bit easier, I think.
Regards -- Mierzwiak (talk) 18:01, 8 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! As you have not made any edits on your current account (Special:Contributions/Mierzwiak) other than to this page, I recommend that you simply stop using this current account and use the new SUL account that has been created automatically yesterday. The Helpful One 12:46, 9 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the explanation. You asked the account Brakehorsepower to be usurped, and this account did not exist so I cannot usurp it. If you wanted Mierzwiak to be renamed to Brakehorsepower, you should have said it :). Anyway, as Thehelpfulone is saying, there is no real need to rename an account which has no consistent contributions. -- Quentinv57 (talk) 13:20, 9 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
OK, it works for me. Thanks for your help. -- Mierzwiak (talk) 18:30, 9 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Arieseroles → Aries Eroles

Status:    Done

Arieseroles (talk) 18:02, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There's an user at enwiki that uses the same name as you want to be renamed here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Aries_Eroles - Is that user yours? If so, could you please edit your talk page at enwiki to confirm it, and link the diff back here?. Best regards. —Marco Aurelio (Nihil Prius Fide) 20:39, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It seems to be, looking at the user rename log, and their rename request on EnWiki. This appears to be a reasonable request. The Helpful One 12:53, 9 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I just realised that edits to this page are the only edits by this account - this seems to be happening quite often. The question is, how do people manage to come to Meta-Wiki and fill out these requests, when they've not made an edit before here? The Helpful One 13:13, 9 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

12BET Asia → 12Bet

Status:    Not done

12BET Asia (talk) 07:11, 11 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, as your edits to this page are the only edits that you have made across all of the Wikimedia project, please simply drop this account and create your new account "12Bet". Please note however, that you current username represents the name of a company, and if you were to edit on the English Wikipedia, per the policies outlined at Wikipedia:CORPNAME, your username would not be acceptable. Kgorman-ucb → Kevin Gorman

Status:    Done

  • Current username: Kgorman-ucb (talk contribs  email)
  • Target username: Kevin Gorman (talk contribs  email)
  • For bureaucrat use: User creation logs: (oldnew) | SUL reports: (oldnew) | Userpage logs: (oldnew)  (rename user)
  • Datestamp: 03:14, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
  • Reason: When I created my account it was to edit articles for an educational assignment; my editing is much more broad than that now, and mostly isn't at all UCB affiliated. Plus, 'Kevin Gorman' is just cleaner than 'kgorman-ucb'. Also filed a request at my homewiki, and shall file one at commons.

Fleet management → Pacific Fleet Observer

Fleet management (talk) 04:20, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, per the message at the top of this page when you edit, If you haven't made any edits to Meta-Wiki, simply to create a new account, please don't request a rename. You can then discontinue use of the old one. It does not need to be deleted; disused accounts are harmless and may be safely ignored. You should be able to create a new user account for the new username that you are requesting - if you have any problems please do not hesitate to let us know.
