Infinite0694 3[edit]

Not ending before 7 December 2021 16:00 (UTC)

Hi, all. I'd like to apply for Meta-wiki adminship. I was a former Meta wiki admin. See:Meta:Administrators/Removal/October 2021 I was so busy that I didn't have time to edit on Meta-wiki because of the Coronavirus outbreak. But, I can make time to volunteer activity here from now on. Unfortunately, there is no native Japanese Steward left to deal with LTAs from JAWP. I currently have admin rights on JAWP(BC, CU, OS and Interface administrator) and have GS flag since 2016. So, I think I can make use of my skills here.--Infinite0694 (Talk) 16:00, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Typically I won't have much issues with this, and I trust you. I know COVID is an issue everywhere, we had a bad outbreak here too. There are some areas I am not that comfortable with, that is (1) the removal isn't due to self requested removal, it's a forced removal by inactivity. In between the removal and this re-request, there isn't much activity either. (2) Even if we count the actions you taken here, most are blocking of accounts that have no edits here using a weird red-link reason sockpuppet and they aren't that regular. For one I blocked more ISECHIKA socks during the period and many others do so too. I am seeing not a negative for supporting the access but I don't see too much of a plus of supporting the access either. I will be more supportive of immediate restoration of admin rights if it's someone who give up the rights voluntarily and then wanting it back, that's perfectly fine and should be supported as rights are not hats. This case is different as it's a mandatory removal due to inactivity. THere are some discussions started by me on Babel on changing the inactivity clause which I welcome participation but for now let's respect it. And after the removal they immediately wanted the access back without any demonstrated activity. Hence, I am quite torn with this with COVID being a valid extenuating reason but then this request seems a little premature to me based on what I had said. Neutral Neutral. I think it's exactly as you said. I have been taking part in a vote here for a long time and have seen people who are trying to request admin flag like me as soon as he/she gets back. I think I would have made the same comment. We had received benefits from the programs which can automatically lock LTAs by rxy, but LTAs from JAWP inflict further damage on Wikimedia project now. The situation is serious. So, I do want to edit and create global abusefilter to deal with abusive username account. I've already considered applying for limited admin flag, but I will only be allowed to use the tools for the approved tasks. If I encounter vandalism here on Meta, this will not help me. I would be frustrated. I have experience in the various aspects of fighting vandalism. So, I think the regular adminship would be useful for me. Central reason for my inactivity was due to an outbreak of Coronavirus. My lifestyle has been turned upside down by this. I apologize for not being able to help you out throughout that period. I can spend a great deal of time in volunteering here on Meta now. Thanks.--Infinite0694 (Talk) 14:37, 2 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Infinite0694 Sorry for this late response, thank you for your replies. I appreciate the depth of the replies. Seeing you should be promoted, I will just hope that you can remain active as much as you could. Regarding the LTAs, I think what is needed is a range block and lock of the accounts, I think they can easily evade filters based on their way of doing things. We do need a ja speaking steward ASAP that's for sure. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 12:00, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The request succeeds. --MF-W 23:55, 11 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
