I am requesting approval for a bot with translation admin rights. The bot will mark pages for translation only if the latest version is identical to the version already marked in the translation system, so only when there are no net changes in the pending edits. This task approval was previously requested by DannyS712 at Meta:Requests for bot status/DannyS712 bot but bot was never coded or deployed. Minorax suggested on my talk page that I should take it up with my bot, so I am doing so here.

As also suggested by Minorax, I plan to extend the task in the future to remove translation markup from pages that have not been added to the translation system and where the last edit is more than 180 days old. Markup includes <translate>...</translate>, <!--T:1--> & <tvar name=var>...</tvar>. The idea is that such pages likely don’t follow Meta’s internationalization guidelines and since they have been left untouched for a long time there isn’t much need to keep them prepared for translation. For this, the bot will only operate in the Main, Grants, and Event namespaces. If anyone wants to add a page back into the translation system, they can simply undo the bot’s edit. – DreamRimmer 18:04, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@M7: The bot will need temporary translation admin rights for a few hours to run a trial, during which it will mark more than 85 pages, so is it possible for you to grant the TA rights? – DreamRimmer 10:48, 16 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@DreamRimmer Yes, ping me when ready. --M/ (talk) 12:58, 16 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@M7: It's ready. – DreamRimmer 13:17, 16 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Added for a week. — xaosflux Talk 13:25, 16 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
First run complete. Marked 89 pages for translation. – DreamRimmer 13:50, 16 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Logs seems good. Will it also be possible to mark subpages of Wiki Loves Living Heritage as well if and only if the only user that edited the page since the logged action to mark the page for translation is done by ListeriaBot? Pages such as Wiki Loves Living Heritage/Elements/2, etc. --Min☠︎rax«¦talk¦» 14:45, 16 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, I will implement it tomorrow. – DreamRimmer 15:41, 16 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Implemented. Marked 99 pages in the first run. – DreamRimmer 17:11, 16 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Just to check, what's the frequency of the bot run? --Min☠︎rax«¦talk¦» 03:55, 18 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It runs hourly during the trial, but I will adjust it to whichever schedule you prefer once it is approved. – DreamRimmer 04:09, 18 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'd say a daily run at 00:00 UTC will be good enough. --Min☠︎rax«¦talk¦» 08:07, 19 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
