Meta:Requests for comment/Change project namespace to Meta-Wiki

Statement of the issue
[edit]Same as previous RFC which was changing the sitename value to "Meta-Wiki". The current project space name is really confusing as "Meta" name belongs to the company that operates Facebook, Instagram and Threads. I suggest changing the project namespace value to "Meta-Wiki".— The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ahri Boy (talk) 02:49, 3 December 2025 (UTC)

Oppose (note: I was the author of the other RFC); the other rfc was to solve some technical issues that I'm not seeing are occurring here. Changing our Project: alias from "Meta" to "Meta-wiki" will make things harder for users who have to type it constantly. Externally (where the other value was an issue) this is only used within URIs (e.g. https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Meta:Requests_for_comment/Change_project_namespace_to_Meta-Wikiwhere changing the value is not something I see as confusing for external readers. Also, we'd really have to also keep the current one as there are thousands of links to these pages. — xaosflux Talk 12:17, 7 December 2025 (UTC)

Oppose per Xaosflux. It's more trouble than it's worth. Jianhui67 talk★contribs 05:57, 14 December 2025 (UTC)
