Semi-protection request on Template:Draft

The Template:Draft is transcluded in 800+ pages. Seems to me that the template is highly visible. --George Ho (talk) 23:07, 3 September 2017 (UTC)

There is very little point in it given that it is a translatable page and one still could mess with the translations, but Done --Base (talk) 14:19, 4 September 2017 (UTC)

Editwar of User:Dschungelfan against a couple of other users for and against a request for speedy deletion of the page, s. talk page and request for speedy deletion (with reasons) (perma). --Rax (talk) 01:31, 1 September 2017 (UTC)

As far as I understand the guidelines on meta (my English is not so good), it is enough to object a speedy deletion and start a discussion on the talk page instead. If Rax is still voting for a deletion, he has to start a regular RfD. Rax has installed the already objected speedy deletion a second and a third time. Can somebody, who is more familiar with the rules on meta, please point out the procedure for an objected speedy deletion request? But I'm going to bed now. -- Dschungelfan (talk) 01:49, 1 September 2017 (UTC)
You're right basically, but you have to answer on remarks seriously, which is missing. --Rax (talk) 01:56, 1 September 2017 (UTC)
Now Rax is installing the objected speedy deletion request a fourth time. puuuh!!! Can please somebody stop him? I really want to go to bed. -- Dschungelfan (talk) 02:02, 1 September 2017 (UTC)
And as a background information: the mother page was already approved by the German community more than a year ago: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:L%C3%B6schkandidaten/16._Juli_2016#Benutzer:Dschungelfan.2FInaktive_Admins_.28bleibt.29 -- Dschungelfan (talk) 02:45, 1 September 2017 (UTC)
In dewiki Rax conceeded already, that there is no concensus on deleting this page and basically accepted, that the page can stay here. (https://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Administratoren/Notizen&diff=prev&oldid=168667854) -- Dschungelfan (talk) 02:59, 1 September 2017 (UTC)
no, he didn't. --Rax (talk) 03:05, 1 September 2017 (UTC)
now a RFD is ongoing https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Meta:Requests_for_deletion#User:Dschungelfan.2FInaktive_Admins.2FDatum_50_Artikel
but Rax has installed his objected speedy deletion request a fifth time .... OMG!! -- Dschungelfan (talk) 03:36, 1 September 2017 (UTC)
As best I can tell, this page was originally created on dewiki and deleted there. We generally don't object to similar lists on Meta (there are a couple related ones) - is there really a problem with Dschungelfan keeping this content here? – Ajraddatz (talk) 03:51, 1 September 2017 (UTC)
Ah, there is now an RfD for this. Excellent. Section resolved. – Ajraddatz (talk) 03:52, 1 September 2017 (UTC)

Vandalism by User:Majo statt Senf

Triple removing the content from https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Dschungelfan/Inaktive_Admins/Datum_50_Artikel&action=history

the same offences he left on my local user talk page [1] it was removed by an admin [2] and subsequently restored by the offender [3] -- Dschungelfan (talk) 17:55, 1 September 2017 (UTC)

thats it Majo statt Senf (talk) 17:49, 1 September 2017 (UTC)
@Majo statt Senf: leave the user's pages alone. Take your other wiki issues to that wiki. Play nice the both of you.  — billinghurst sDrewth 03:13, 2 September 2017 (UTC)
That page is anything but nice, it's a base for harassing admins on deWP. "Play nice" would mean for Dschungelfan: Delete that hostile page. Grüße vom Sänger ♫(Reden) 07:42, 2 September 2017 (UTC)
@Billinghurst: 90 minutes after you asked Majo statt Senf to leave the user's pages alone, he removed again the whole content [4] -- Dschungelfan (talk) 08:41, 2 September 2017 (UTC)
Play nice applies to everyone. @Sänger: we have a deletion process to manage problematic pages. deWP issues should be managed at deWP.  — billinghurst sDrewth 08:46, 2 September 2017 (UTC)
That is exactly what Dschungelfan is trying to avoid with his hiding in other projects, away from the community of the deWP. This whole hostile abuse of Meta for his agenda on deWP is just to be out of reach of the deWP-community, so that they cannot deal with this issue. If Meta likes to be the hiding place for trolls, please do so, but say so as well. Grüße vom Sänger ♫(Reden) 08:52, 2 September 2017 (UTC)
@Sänger: Please don't play combative with me, I am not your enemy, just an admin here following the community process. We are not deWP, this is a coordinating wiki. We ask that wikis manage their own affairs, and each comment that I have made reinforces that, though, it is allowed for conversations to take place about other wikis, this is not an authoritarian regime. It is also allowed for the community to manage the pages that we host, and I see that many in deWP are taking advantage of that at the RfD. The community will arrive at a decision and the admins will undertake the consensus.  — billinghurst sDrewth 09:07, 2 September 2017 (UTC)

Request for a revision deletion

Hello,

Could you please delete both my username and the edit summary of this edit and this one? I have mixed my accounts, and would not like that both are associated. Thank you! Litlok (talk) 13:02, 9 September 2017 (UTC)

I've revision-deleted both, but not suppressed them, so admins and other people with access to deleted stuff will be able to see them. Thanks. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 21:33, 9 September 2017 (UTC)
@MarcoAurelio: Thank you very much. That's exactly what I was requesting. Litlok (talk) 09:26, 10 September 2017 (UTC)

Spamming of bot accounts

Hi, In Hindi Wikipedia (don't know about others) from past 2 days there is a constant account creation of spam accounts. There is a pattern that all are some kind of en:Vashikaran Baba. All make edits by giving phone numbers. Some accounts are created with phone numbers in names. We blocked dozens of them. But they keep coming. We blocked ips from account creation but still new accounts are created. I think there is some kind of thing going on which we don't understand and like to hear from stewards what should be done.--Hindust@niक्या करें? बातें! 10:06, 18 September 2017 (UTC)

I globally blocked an IP where came 4 spam accounts, and locked a few accounts. Stryn (talk) 13:40, 18 September 2017 (UTC)
Thanks. But account and page creation is still going on. If you can do anything else to stop this, that would be very helpful.--Hindust@niक्या करें? बातें! 12:21, 19 September 2017 (UTC)
They are editing from many different service providers so not possible to block IP ranges. Somebody could try to create an abuse filters on hi.wikipedia (w:hi:Special:AbuseFilter). Unfortunaly I'm not good with abuse filters, but maybe someone else can help. Stryn (talk) 17:19, 19 September 2017 (UTC)
Okay, we'll try.--Hindust@niक्या करें? बातें! 15:55, 20 September 2017 (UTC)

Request of Patroller Permission

Request for patroller right

I am a global rollbacker and can use it here, but it would be nice to get the patrol links/marks back. Could I be added to the new group?

Problem with my global userpage

Hi, I'm Sannita (talk · contribs) and today I start my period as "wikimedian in residence" at the Istituto centrale per i beni sonori ed audiovisivi. I'm trying to set up my global userpage, but the system is preventing me to do save it. The reason stated is a generic "antivandalism", so it might be that I'm triggering some sort of filter, even if I don't know how. Is there a way to prevent this? Thanks. --Sannita (ICBSA) (talk) 10:15, 26 September 2017 (UTC)

Try without quotes. It should work then. — regards, Revi 10:22, 26 September 2017 (UTC)
It didn't: "This action has been automatically identified as harmful, and therefore disallowed. If you believe your action was constructive, please inform an administrator of what you were trying to do. A brief description of the abuse rule which your action matched is: Antivandalism"
Maybe it's because I'm trying to copy this page (it's always me, that's the other WiR position I have). --Sannita (ICBSA) (talk) 10:30, 26 September 2017 (UTC)
Abuselog indicates you didn't remove the quotes. (As this filter is private, I'm kind of hesitant to speak what exactly is problematic but) 12th doctor line seems to be the origin of the problem. — regards, Revi 10:53, 26 September 2017 (UTC)
Oh, that quote. Ok, thanks. I'll try again. --Sannita (ICBSA) (talk) 11:04, 26 September 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, it worked. Thanks. :) --Sannita (ICBSA) (talk) 11:05, 26 September 2017 (UTC)

Apparent personal attacks

Request for sysop help:

Comments from confirmed illegal sock puppets removed! --Marshallsumter (talk) 19:27, 27 September 2017 (UTC)

Request for page semiprotection

Please semiprotect my meta user talk page, an LTA sock revert warred on it today. He also revert warred on a user page that I do not wish to link, it's a draft, and could contain errors, so I'll take my chances there, unless more revert warring appears. Thanks. --Abd (talk) 02:36, 30 September 2017 (UTC)

Political agenda promoted

I would appreciate if an admin would help some users to tone down here and to help return to a discussion of a technical issue rather than of relations between Russia and Ukraine. Thanks.--Ymblanter (talk) 13:17, 28 September 2017 (UTC)

Now escalated to personal attacks against me.--Ymblanter (talk) 14:55, 28 September 2017 (UTC)
It would be good, yes. Though sometimes involved with CNs, I abstain because of personal conflicts with some of persons involved. --Base (talk) 21:25, 28 September 2017 (UTC)
Well, if nobody cares, why should I care. This is not my project, and I have no stakes in the technical issue which meant to be discussed at that page, which is now a playground for personal attacks and political propaganda.--Ymblanter (talk) 18:37, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
Well, given that nobody impartial intervened I acted upon this. Hopefully the current means of closing discussion sections would be enough, otherwise I would have to use technical admin tools. --Base (talk) 07:18, 3 October 2017 (UTC)
