Hello, I intend to use Special:EmailUser to send meeting join links to participants in the Wikimedia Café session that will start approximately 36 hours from now. Apparently, when sending messages through this tool to people who signed up to participate in the session, I reached a threshold that triggered my account being temporarily locked out from the tool. It's not at all obvious to me that this is spam, and given the very high number of false positives like this on plwiktionary (example) it might be worth making some modification to the filter, such as opting out plwikt. I can't see the filter so I don't know why it's triggering the filter and I don't know what change would fix it. Olá,

Gostaria de esclarecer o ocorrido que levou ao meu bloqueio. Eu estava tentando apagar conteúdos relacionados a uma publicação que eu mesma havia criado, intitulada “Projeto individual – Fernanda de Menezes Angelo”, dentro de Wikimedia e Educação USCS/Oficinas & Atividades Educacionais.

No entanto, por não compreender corretamente o funcionamento da plataforma, acabei acessando uma lista com diversos itens (cerca de 30) relacionados a essa publicação.

Acreditei, de forma equivocada, que seria necessário entrar em cada um deles individualmente para realizar a exclusão, e fui fazendo isso um a um, pensando que estava procedendo da maneira correta.

Reconheço que minha ação pode ter sido interpretada como vandalismo, mas reforço que não houve qualquer intenção de prejudicar o projeto. Sou professora e estava tentando organizar/remover materiais de forma adequada, porém sem o conhecimento técnico necessário.

Peço desculpas pelo ocorrido e me coloco à disposição para seguir as orientações corretas. Se possível, gostaria de solicitar a revisão do bloqueio.

Regarding the issue of permissions and account banning for the Taiwan-based Wikipedia administrator account "menchiu", and the process of applying to become a global system administrator account.

I hold the authority of a UK-based Wikipedia arbitration committee member, but the IP address of this account is located in Taiwan. Because I requested and proposed to restrict and block the permissions of this administrator account and its associated accounts, the menchiu Taiwan Wikipedia administrator account subsequently banned me from editing indefinitely. A few months ago, my IP address was also banned without reason, but it was immediately unblocked by a foreign esteemed individual. Therefore, I humbly request that the Meta-Wiki global account system administrator account be subject to administrative control, and request that the menchiu Taiwan Wikipedia administrator account be banned from administrator privileges and that its editing activities be prohibited. Hi,
I am organizing a conference about community and governance, and like send a one-off invitation via wikimail to the holders of additional rights for our language, across 8 wiki-projects. I'd like to use MassMessageEmail for reaching ~100 users, which is (if I understand the documentation on Mediawiki correctly) embedded in the MassMessage right. I've used MassMessage before as admin on Commons and as admin on nl-Wikipedia (and wrote instructions for using the right on nlwp): my question is, do I need additional permission to receive this right, or can I as local admin self-assign? @Ciell, maybe you are referring to a tool developed by the Wikimedia Foundation that is currently in testing, called the Event Invitations tool. Regarding modifications to Filter 161

Hello dear administrators, I would like to propose some changes to filter 161. I originally raised this at Meta:RfC, but two administrators (@Johannes and @Codename Noreste) suggested that I bring it up here, so I have moved the request accordingly. My proposals are as follows:

• Restore the filter’s edit-count threshold from 500 global edits back to 500 local edits. I have already provided detailed reasoning in the RfC: 1, 2, 3.
• According to what Leaderboard mentioned, this filter seems unable to intercept temporary users. I would like it to continue restricting temporary users regardless of how many edits they have made. Although this may sound somewhat harsh, I personally believe that a temporary user making over 500 edits in less than three months is highly unusual.

Finally, there is one additional point for consideration:

• Whether to set this filter as a private filter. In most cases, editing other users’ user pages tends to be associated with vandalism (see the filter log for my user page) and spam, and I believe such content is not suitable for display in a public log.

• The filter is supposed to prevent simple vandalism. The fact that some LTA manage to make 500 global edits before getting blocked doesn't mean we need to change the filter – those LTA usually violate content policies and don't vandalise user pages. Your example in the RfC proves that point, the LTA in question didn't vandalise any user page. In fact I can't remember a single case where any LTA vandalised a metawiki user page just because of Leaderboard's change in October.
• If a temporary account made more than 500 edits without getting blocked, I don't see a reason to set different limits on them compared to any other new account with 500 edits. Doesn't seem to be an actual problem.
• Wikipedia is by nature a transparent project. We don't hide abuse filters just because their log might contain vandalism. Might be different if there was a credible concern about PII leaked through filter logs but once again this "problem" seems to be fictional.
